Xbox 360 freezes up on start up.

After software update (several times now because I keep getting a message of corrupted or missing files) the box freezes up on start. Customer support claims a Drain Hard Reboot would solve the problem. Well... it doesn't.

Any success stories out there that solves this problem.

try starting the console without the hard drive.

 

It sounds like the issue may lie with the hard drive. Can you try removing the drive and see if you experience the same issue?

Tried a new HDD and the box froze up again. Without the external drive, boot up is fine. Put in either of the external drives and the box freezes up. Hard to believe 2 external drives are bad and that both give the same characteristics. What do ya think?

 

Hmmm. That is strange. Which brand external drives are you using? Perhaps it's the brand. Do you have an official Xbox drive that you can try?

 

Both are official Microsoft HDD's. The replacement is one I bought refurbished through GameStop.

 

Ok,thanks for the info. When you said that they were external I presued a different brand.

If the console is acting up even with official hard drives then it may be in need of a repair. You can set one up at this link.
