Xbox 360 External Storage Increase Request

With the recent update to the Xbox One to allow for significantly sized external storage, it made me think about the eventual end of Xbox Live for the 360 and all of the games I've downloaded over the years. I've felt safe in knowing that I don't have to
keep everything on my system(s) as I can "easily" go through my downloaded history and reclaim any game I've deleted, but what about a fail safe for when Live goes away...

To have to purchase several "internal" drives for my Xbox 360 Regular and Slim would be quite costly and inefficient; just to be able to store everything I own digitally would require roughly 4 320 GB drives (which ideally, I would need 4 for the regular,
4 for the slim). What should really happen is an update to the Xbox 360 to allow for at bare minimum 1TB partition sizes for storage, but not to play from. I would have no problem transferring games to/from internal storage, treating the external drive in
the same manner as I do the Live cloud which hosts all of my previously purchased games.

I can't understand why that hasn't happened already, except for the "threat of piracy" that was used as an excuse in the past. If the update were to come a year or two before the end of Live, then that fear won't apply as there would be no legal way to purchase
these games in that format anyway. There needs to be some solution available that does not involve buying a lot more hardware for those of us who have already paid a lot of money to support this console and paid a premium to have the content delivered digitally.

    :)

There was no mention of any maximum capacity of external hard drives, only a minimum capacity (256Gb). Where did you get that information?

What you probably dont realize with digital downloads is the games are actually rentals. For instance-Test Drive Unlimited.I bought this in 2011 but I cannot download it again uness I pay for it again even though its in my download history.MS believes they
have the right to doulble charge you when ever they feel like it.Thats the drawback of digital. You dont own anything.

  5. I`ve been alright with 2x Xbox 360 250GB Hard Drives for my Xbox 360 Console E.

The first Storage stores My 100 Xbox Live Arcade Games Purchased from the Xbox.com Marketplace, And my second Hard Drive stores the
Full Xbox 360 Games because they are about (5GB-8GB) Each and there`s about
67 Full Xbox 360 Games All from the Xbox.com Marketplace.

They should Really Upgrade The Storage device Complicity on the Xbox 360s, They should release a 500GB Xbox 360 Hard Drive, Not Those Third Party Hard Drives. An Official Microsoft 500GB Hard Drive. I`ve not seen them anywhere but All these Company's And
Third parties trying to make it Compatible with the Xbox 360. I`d love to see an Official Microsoft 500GB Hard Drive, ^_^

  6. @LOWxONxHealth Actually, that's not true. Once you pay for a digital item, you own it. You just don't own the license or whatever they call it. I was able to download games as far back as 2009 if I recall correctly. So there's an error on your account or
something. Could be that you maybe have a new console and never transferred the licence from one console to the other, so XBL doesn't know if you own it.

As for storage upgrade, just delete whatever you don't use, works for me, and if I ever want to re-play a game, I just re-download it in the future.

    Xbox360 storage

    Hello Shaurya355,

That is a great question. The console has a couple of options to increase
    storage space.
    The console can use a
    USB flash drive
for extra storage. An external hard drive will help with having extra storage space for the console as well. We hope this helps!

Here is what the Xbox Wire said:

Easily Increase Games Capacity with External Storage Support

It couldn’t be easier to increase your storage capacity of games and apps with the external storage support features we’re bringing in June. Your Xbox One system will soon support up to two external hard drives at once. Simply plug in your 256 GB or larger
USB 3.0 external hard drive and once formatted, copy and move games, apps and game add-ons to increase your storage capacity at home.
