Xbox 360 error code: 8015401b

Trying to get the one month free membership. I have not played in a while & was looking to temporarily play.

Quick question, well two really. What was the error code? Did you ask google what the error code meant?

Also, if the xbox is having status issues that can cause stupid error codes to drop. Usually though once you google the code you'll know what the issue is, and if the issue isn't related to the internet, i'd still hit up status page for xbox just to make sure.

Which i'll do before i hit post. Xbox Live Service Status | Xbox Live Service Outage seems everything is normal right now, so hit us up with the error code, i'd try again though.

Are each of you trying to redeem one month of gold with a token code? If so, verify the following:

• Try redeeming the code on your Xbox console.
• Try redeeming the code on our Code Redemption page.
  
• Check account.xbox.com and verify that your billing information is up to date and that there are no outstanding charges on the account.
  
• Verify that the code you are using was purchased in the region your account is set to.

To anyone who does work at Microsoft please people don't want to pay everyone I n a while can you fix this problem so we can get this free 1 month you got millions of costumers.

 

I see this offer on the "Home" tab showing "Try Gold for Free - Exclusive Offer Just for You". I select it, then it shows me straight out that I can benefit from a TRIAL month of Gold; I accept, it brings up the "Confirm Purchase" window; everything looks
fine, the price is free, the gold lasts for a month, it says the next bill will occur in a month for $9.99, the title of the window being "Gold - 1 Month FREE Trial", I feel really happy about this and then I actually press on "Confirm Purchase" aaaaaaand.............
mere seconds after that, the window just disappears without doing anything... and I have a valid and functional payment method on my account too; without one, it would just give me an error after pressing on "Confirm Purchase". Tried multiple times as well,
but that window would always disappear... What a kick in the balls...

So, I'm just curious as to why it simply teases me like that if in reality I cannot benefit from it...

Just to clarify, where are you guys trying to get the trial month from exactly? Is it from a dashboard offer like me? If so, this error show up if you do not have a payment method attached to your account. However, in my case, even though I do have one,
that window just disappears in a few seconds without doing anything after I select "Confirm Purchase". Also, it might be worth mentioning if your accounts have ever had paid (real) Gold on them.

 

I'm having the same issue as xCosmo BOLTz. I do have a valid payment option, but I click on the accept button, it runs for a few seconds, and then nothing. I feel pretty betrayed.

 

Ok, so this morning I got a message from Xbox Live. It was the same gold offer "Free for a month" that appears on the dashboard, but this time it said at the end- "To start your trial, press the Guide button and select 'Try Gold for Free' by 3/31/2015."
However, I don't own an Xbox One, I have an Xbox 360, and aforementioned option is not available when I press the Guide Button. I do take it that our problems are being heard if I got the message, so I'm glad for that much at least.

 

Got the same message as K1lalya ... not pleased. "To start your trial, press the Guide button and select 'Try Gold for Free' by 3/31/2015." Yeah, right... don't have an Xbox One.

 

I got the same message today. But I'm having the same problem as cosmo. I have a valid payment method and when I go to confirm my 1 month trial the screen disappears and it brings me back to the dashboard with no gold.

Okay everybody. So I've found out how to get your "Try Gold for Free - Exclusive Offer Just for You" working.

Just follow these steps.

1. Make sure your logged into Xbox.com

2. Click this link Deals with Gold | Xbox Live

3. As soon as the page loads you will see "Deals with gold, join today" Click 'Join Today'

4. The next page will say "Get more with Xbox Live gold" directly under that click 'Join Today' again

5. The next page is the subscription page. Select 'Xbox Live Gold - 1 Month Free Trial

6. Continue with the subscription process as you usually would and eureka! Your request for the 1 month of gold should have been accepted.

Xbox Live itself is having some servicing problems that I'm sure employees are working on. With that being said, subscribing on Xbox.com actually works as opposed to subscribing on your Xbox(with XBL).

I'm sorry Trilla B, but that is not correct (not for everyone at least). Following your instructions, you simply get to the subscriptions page on xbox.com where you can purchase a subscription. That 1 month free trial option is only available for newly created
accounts within the first month of their creation. So.... useless for old accounts which have had Gold before.
