Xbox 360 error code: 42fe00003080050cd0000185

When I turn my xbox on it tells me I need an update but after its downloaded and restarted I get status code: 42FE - 0000 - 3080 - 050C - 0185. I have tried removing the hard drive, reinserting and retrying without success. I also tried with a usb drive.
Then I tried without the hard drive in and it said something about there being files missing. Would very much appreciate help. Thanks in advance.

Quick question, well two really. What was the error code? Did you ask google what the error code meant?

Also, if the xbox is having status issues that can cause stupid error codes to drop. Usually though once you google the code you'll know what the issue is, and if the issue isn't related to the internet, i'd still hit up status page for xbox just to make sure.

Which i'll do before i hit post. Xbox Live Service Status | Xbox Live Service Outage seems everything is normal right now, so hit us up with the error code, i'd try again though.

Please give the following steps a try:

• First, clear your Xbox 360 system cache 3 times.
  
• Power cycle your Xbox 360 console.
  
• Once your console is powered on, try downloading the update again.

If you are still unable to download the update, copy the update from your computer to a USB flash drive by trying the following steps:

Note The USB flash drive must use the FAT32 file system. For information about how to format a USB flash drive, see the “Format a USB flash drive” section of Xbox 360 USB flash
drive support.

1. Plug your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
2. Download the update file.
   
3. Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
4. Unzip the file. If you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
   
5. Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory of your USB flash drive (for example, E:\). Do not copy the contents to another folder on the USB flash drive (for example, E:\Files).
   
6. Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer.
7. Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your Xbox 360 console.
8. Restart the console.
9. When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console software.
   

If you are unable to download the update to a USB flash drive, you can burn the update to a CD or DVD by trying the following steps:

1. On your computer, download the update file.
   
2. Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
3. Unzip the file. If you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
   • If you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
     
   • If you are using an earlier version of Windows, you need to use a special software program to unzip the file (for example, WinZip).
     
4. Insert a blank, writeable CD or DVD into your computer.
5. Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory on your CD or DVD, and choose to write (burn) the files to the disc.
   
6. Once the files have been burned to disc, remove that disc from your computer and insert it into the disc drive on your Xbox 360 console.
   
7. Restart the console.
8. When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console software.

This was a long time ago now and I did end up getting it to work for some time by using a usb flash drive as my system storage. Now there is a new xbox 360 update and I am having the same issues with a new code 43C5 - 0000 - 050C - D000 - 0185. I have gotten
the update to work through using a usb flash drive to update the 250gb storage but it soon starts telling me there is missing or corrupt files. There also seems to be an issue with my internal memory, it does not show up in my storage devices screen, which
is what I believe started this whole thing. And my 250gb drive eventually corrupts the data from the update. Not sure what to do about this other then to try and use the flash drive with the update again.

Hi Mr Quimby! Yes I did create my own thread (Section 2) and eventually went online chat with one of your helpers, but despite his help, I am still no further forward. I have even saved my profiles on a USB stick and reformatted the drive, but it is still
not working correctly. The machine powers up correctly with the hdd removed, but, of course, it cannot do an upgrade because there is no memory. Maybe I should use the USB stick as main memory to get the upgrade, then replace the hdd. Would that help?

 

I too am not able to get the new update from xbox live. I'm in southern California and have been trying to get my system to work for about a week, maybe a little less. If anyone in my area has been having the same trouble and has figured out how to make

Has anyone been able to get the update ok after having the error code of 42FE 43C5 1380 267F C000 0185? I have tried everything listed in the network help. If anyone has any ideas or what worked for them please let me know.
