Quick question, well two really. What was the error code? Did you ask google what the error code meant?

Also, if the xbox is having status issues that can cause stupid error codes to drop. Usually though once you google the code you'll know what the issue is, and if the issue isn't related to the internet, i'd still hit up status page for xbox just to make sure.

Which i'll do before i hit post. Xbox Live Service Status | Xbox Live Service Outage seems everything is normal right now, so hit us up with the error code, i'd try again though.

I am also getting this error code. I tried getting the update through a flash drive but that isn't working either... :/

 

Same here. Anything new or any ideas on how to get this fixed? it's been over a week and I can't get it to work.

• Once your console is powered on, try downloading the update again.

If you are still unable to download the update, copy the update from your computer to a USB flash drive by trying the following steps:

Note The USB flash drive must use the FAT32 file system. For information about how to format a USB flash drive, see the “Format a USB flash drive” section of Xbox 360 USB flash
drive support.

1. Plug your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
2. Download the update file.
   
3. Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
4. Unzip the file. If you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
   
5. Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory of your USB flash drive (for example, E:\). Do not copy the contents to another folder on the USB flash drive (for example, E:\Files).
   
6. Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer.
7. Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your Xbox 360 console.
8. Restart the console.
9. When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console software.

I have tried this steps and it keeps doing this. I now get this new error code 42FC00000080030080072EE2. It wont download anything and half the time it says i cant connect to the wifi even though i am connected and every other device can connect. It all
started with that system update. This is the forth day that i cant get online and use the gold that i am paying for. I got netflix just to use on the xbox and i cant. This isnt cool. This has happened before and it took over 2 weeks to fix. Getting really
sick of this.

• Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord of your console, router, modem or gateway.
  
• If you’re using an Xbox 360 Memory Unit or a USB flash drive instead of a hard drive, remove and reinsert the memory unit or USB flash drive.
  
• If you have a hard drive, try removing and adding the hard drive again.
  
• Plug in your console, router, modem or gateway.
• Power on your console.
• Try the update again.

I have tried to connect and download the update at a friends house and i keep getting error codes each time. The error codes are different each time.Here are the error codes in order of getting them. 42FC42FEA0800F080072EE2 42FC000000830080072EE2 42FC00000080020080151911.
There were three other error codes but here is the last one i wrote down. 42FC0000008002008015190B. What the hell did your system update do to my Xbox?

 

I haven't been able to connect for about a week and a half. I am having the same problem. Obviously this download is crap and needs fixing on Xbox's end. I wasn't having any problems until the new download became available. I was wireless until then.
Now I am using an Ethernet cable and still can't get in. I feel I'm paying for something I'm not able to use and that sucks. Not at all happy!!

• Plug a USB flash drive into a USB port on the front of your console.
• Press the Guide button on your controller.
• Select Settings and then select System Settings.
• Select Storage or Memory.
• Select USB Storage Device.
• Choose either Configure now or Customize to format the USB flash drive for Xbox content.
  

Configure Now: Erases the USB flash drive and configures 32 GB for Xbox storage

• Select Configure Now and confirm that you want to erase all data on the USB flash drive.
  

Customize: Configures a portion of the USB flash drive (up to 32 GB)

• Select Customize.
• Move the Reserved Storage slider to select the amount of space you want for Xbox storage.
  
• Select Configure.

The console tests your USB flash drive to make sure it works correctly with the console. If your USB flash drive passes this test, you can use it.

Note If the USB flash drive is rated below the recommended speed, you might experience reduced game performance and quality. To cancel and try another USB flash drive, select Cancel.

• Your USB flash drive is ready to use and is listed as a USB Storage Device.

Once you have made sure that your USB drive has been properly formatted, try the following steps again:

10. When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console.

42FC42FEA0800F0080072EE2 Yo tengo el mismo codigo de error.. no me puedo conectar he intentado todo nada resulta..... ayuda por favor.. no puedo conectarme ni ha xbox live...

 

the solution .. la solución es sacar el cable de red y conectarse por wifi o viceversa .. Compruebas coneccion... y reinicias para dar ok a la actualizacion....
