  1. Xbox 360 error code: 42FC-42FE-1380-0700-C000-000E

    Hey there IMAKI11U420!

Sorry to hear that the issue is continuing to occur. What error code are you experiencing when trying to update your console? If you haven't already, I recommend trying to update your console with a USB flash drive. Before you update your console, make sure
that you disconnect your consoles internet connection. Please try the following steps:

    1. Plug your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
    2. Download the update file.
    3. Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
    4. Make sure to Extract the file. If you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
    5. Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory of your USB flash drive (for example, E:\). Do not copy the contents to another folder on the USB flash drive (for example, E:\Files).
    6. Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer.
    7. Disconnect your Xbox 360 console from your modem, router or gateway.
    8. Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your Xbox 360 console.
    9. Restart the console.
    10. When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console.
You can also check out our Xbox 360 software update troubleshooting page for some additional helpful steps. Give the suggested steps a try and let us know how it goes!

Followed your directions on the first path (cache, restart). Still not working, Quimby. Still paying for a service I cannot access. All this USB crap is a pain and is above and beyond what you should be asking of customers. Fix it, please.

  4. Xbox 360 error code: 42FC-42FE-1380-0700-C000-000E

    Hey there rayge71!

Sorry to hear about the update issues, I can definitely understand how frustrating that could be. If you are continuing to experience issues installing the update, please go ahead and try the following steps:

If you are still unable to download the update, copy the update from your computer to a USB flash drive by trying the following steps:

Note The USB flash drive must use the FAT32 file system. For information about how to format a USB flash drive, see the “Format a USB flash drive” section of Xbox 360 USB flash drive
    support
    .

    1. Plug your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
    2. Download the update file.
    3. Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
    4. Unzip the file.
    7. Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your Xbox 360 console.
    8. Restart the console.
    9. When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console software.
If you are unable to install the update with a USB flash drive, you can burn the update to a disc by trying the following steps:

You can update your Xbox 360 console software by downloading the update to your computer from Xbox.com, burning the update to a CD or DVD, and then installing the update on your console. Here's how:

    1. On your computer, download the update file.
    2. Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
    3. Unzip the file.
      • If you're using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
      • If you're using an earlier version of Windows, you need to use a special software program to unzip the file (for example, WinZip).
    4. Insert a blank, writeable CD or DVD into your computer.
    5. Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory on your CD or DVD, and choose to write (burn) the files to the disc.
    6. Once you burn the files to disc, remove that disc from your computer and insert it into the disc drive on your Xbox 360 console.
    7. Restart the console.
    8. When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. When prompted, select Yes to update the new console software.
Give the suggested steps a try and let us know how it goes!

Nope. The USB method does not work. There is no "automatic install." Also, I don't have a CD/DVD burner on my MICROSOFT Surface Pro 3, so that solution is a bit absurd for consumers. I know many young kids who use Xbox 360, and you're really going to
suggest for them to have their single mom who knows nothing about technology download some unfamiliar files and burn it onto a disc? Please actually look into this. My device is less than 2 years old and there is no reason why it should not be working properly.
What other suggestions or resolutions do you have for consumers that are still paying for Xbox Live and can't even use Netflix or Hulu on their devices?

Tried burning a disc with the update... Didn't work either. What could we all have in common that requires us to get a "repair?“ It seems all a bit coincidental that Xbox 360 users are getting this" unknown error," around the time - I'm sure - Microsoft
would want us to have Xbox One by.
