Xbox 360 Emulation on Xbox One.

Hello, for quit sometime I have considered buying an Xbox One, however I am turned off by the fact that it does not play 360 games. Being a HUGE Halo fan I would like to purchase one in order to play the master chief collection. I remember in April that
Microsoft said they were looking into it but since then nothing has been furthur said. Does Microsoft plan to release 360 emulation for the Xbox One?

I would request that I be given a strait answer. For years I ave enjoyed Microsofts customer care and hvae been very impressed with how the build their products. I would rather buy an Xbox One knowing that emulation will not be available rather than go in and
spend $500 based off of a "white lie".

Suggestion in Regards to BC

The xbox one's hardware has more in common with the original xbox than the 360. Barring any form of software emulation on the xbox one, I don't see 360 games running on it at all.

Marketing strikes again. We were told that any Xbox 360 game could be emulated on the Xbox One. I realize now that the emulation engineering team probably disagrees.

 

The last word was that they are working on it. I believe it will come. But as far as a straight answer, you will not get one here.

Personally, I want those who want the backwards compatibility to have it. I personally know what it is like to have been limited the funds and have to trade in a console. I did it to get my original 360. Which I ultimately re-purchased.

With that being said, I kept my 360 to start a collection of Xbox consoles. As my signature says, I still own all of them now.

I would love to have an actual 100% flawless Xbox 360 emulator on the Xbox One, but sadly the results of getting new hardware to compensate for missing hardware usually doesn't end well.

I would love for Microsoft to worry about moving forward and stop worrying about old gen. I don't like that they waste so many resources on frivolous stuff that doesn't improve next gen gaming.

I agree with you in regards with the fact that the primary focus should be on the current console (Xbox One), but "if" the progress of the current generation console will not be negatively affected at all; I'm all for an Xbox 360 emulator

Ive said this before and will say this again B/C or emulating 360 games is only important in the early part of a consoles life span. 2 years from now when the Xbox One has a rich library of titles not many people will care or use the feature.

 

I will care... I am a huge fan of some xbox360 games like CoD zombie, Gears of War franchise or Dead Space and if there will not be an emulation for xbox360 games on xbone I'm gonna keep my x360 to play old games.

 

And thats what you should do. Emulation was terrible on the 360 and I doubt it would be much better on Xbox One.

 

It's not really a biggy for me because game devs are making Minecraft, Halo MCC, Happy Wars, GTA V onto Xbox 1 so there's no need for M to emulate games which devs who have made for 360 may bring to 1. My favourite 360 games are A World of Keflings, Halo
4, Halo Reach, Minecraft, COD Black Ops 2, Happy Wars, The Sims 3. It's beneficial especially when M terminates XBL support for 360 which will literally turn Xbox 360 into a single player only console. XBL support for 360 should be fine for this year and next
year but would really push for at least a few more years. The Sims franchise is huge so EA really should make The Sims 3 and Sims 4 maybe that Sims city game which is on PC, for Xbox 1 since they make The Sims franchise for so many gaming platforms there's
no reason why they can't include it for Xbox 1.

I commend Microsoft in their efforts to make the Original Xbox games run off from an emulator on the Xbox 360; but MOST of the time it didn't work, which is really sad

My best advice to everyone is to NOT get rid of your old consoles

i got rid of the 360 because gaming has moved on.

I'd rather them release a Gears collection than play it emulated (which is always buggy and terrible)

 

Last I saw on the Xbox Live Feed, is that there releasing a Xbox 360 Emulator on the Xbox One in Nov. 2015 some time. I think it's going to be about the same time Fallout 4 finally goes live, and able to play on the 10th. they already have over 100+ 360
games that are playable in it, with plans to release more at later dates.

And Speaking from a new comers point of view to the Xbox world, Because I am, I would love to be able to play all the games I bought in the past year of owning my Xbox 360, On my XB1. If for no other reason, but to Retire My 360 to my Son so he can play
it, and still get to play my same games on the XB1. {;~P

 

Nowhere near 100 titles yet. And you really needed to put this in a year old thread tons of newer ones on same topic
