    my disk drive has crashed. Does anyone know where I can purchase one. I know that it has to match my motherboard for it to recognize games and any that I have seen on line for sales just states that the ones for sale are for the Xbox 360. I just don't want
    to buy one and it will not work for my machine. I have a Xbox 360 elite. Thanks

    Yes, although they are labelled for a specific platform (Xbox 360 = White / Wii = White/ PS2/PS3 = Black), all of the Logitech Vantage USB wired mics are cross-platform compatible. For example, I use the Black "PS2/PS3" mic with my Xbox 360 Elite (I wanted them to match Xbox 360 elite :D ) and it works just fine.

    Well, while you could find drives on ebay, the term "matches your motherboard" is more complex than just finding the correct model of the drive.

    Each console has an unique cryptographic key, where the key in the drive firmware has to match the console firmware key.

    So even if you get the same model of the drive, the keys won't fit, and the console will be unable to decrypt the Xbox game discs properly.

    Even though there are instructions on the internet on how to do a drive swap, the content of the drive firmware is not fully known, and if you attempt a self repair, you risk your console being banned from Xbox Live and/or the drive firmware being bricked
    on the next system update.

    Therefore I heartily recommend against attempting a self repair.

    If your drive is broken,
    send your console in for a proper repair    or replacement, or simply buy a new console.

    When I said plenty on ebay I was actually referring to complete Microsoft HDDs, not separate parts.

    Just buying and installing a new or used complete HDD is the simplest way to replace your HDD and would not affect it`s use on XBL.
