Xbox 360 E not retaining Remote Control selection if unplugged

I run Media Center at home with 4 xbox 360s in the house. 3 of 4 are older units that have the most up-to-date dashboards but don't exhibit the problem. The problem I have is that when the 360E is unplugged, the setting in Console Settings > Remote Control
is not retained on "Both Remotes". It defaults back to 360 Media Remote. If I leave it plugged in and turn off the console, then the setting is retained. The problem only occurs after a power loss. The 360E has the latest system updates.

Original Xbox 360 Console (white) will not work with Universal Remote from far away

Hello,

I have a white Original Xbox 360 Console that works fine with my Xbox 360 wireless controller. I recently purchased an Xbox 360 E Console. The 360 E console does works with the Xbox 360 wireless controller, my Dish 20.1 IR universal remote, and my RCA RCR314WR
universal Remote.

My original Xbox 360 console does not work with the Dish remote and RCA remote, listed above, except for 1 case. The Dish remote and RCA remote Do work with original Xbox 360 console only when the remote is position within about 3 inches of (and directly
in front of) the black sensor (I assume it is the sensor) on the front of the original Xbox 360 console. If I move the remote more than 3 inches away from the console sensor, or I move the remote up, down, left, or right, the remote does not work.

When I say the remotes work with the console, I mean that I can power the Xbox console on and off, as well as switch between screens using the remotes.

Codes I have programmed into my remotes: Dish - 576; RCA - 32083

I tried placing the original console next to the 360 E console (unplugged the 360 E console) to see if it was the room and I got the same results.

Has anyone heard of this issue before with the original Xbox 360 console and universal remotes?

Sorry to hear about this issue. That issue does sound odd, let's start with the basics. Go ahead and clear Xbox 360 consoles system cache three times, and then restart the console. Here is a helpful article with the steps to do that: Clearing
your Xbox 360 system cache.

Hello,

first transfer the music from your phone to your PC, using the Xbox 360 Universal Remote or the Xbox 360 Media Remote. On remote, press Start and then select My music. Press INFO on the remote. Select Add music, and then press OK on the remote. Follow the
steps on screen to add additional content. You can also add the music Using the Xbox 360 Controller. Make sure Windows Media Center is running. On the Xbox 360 controller, press the Start button and then select My music. Press the X on the controller button.
Select Add music and then press the A button on the controller then follow the steps on screen to add additional content.

It's because there's no sync button on the new remote, you just have to enable it in the settings. Try doing these steps:

Turn on the XBOX 360 Slim.

Go To MY XBOX

Go To SYSTEM SETTINGS (very last tile)

Go To CONSOLE SETTINGS

Go To CONTROLLER SETTINGS

Click BOTH REMOTES: Enable SELECT BOTH REMOTES TO ENABLE THE XBOX 360 MEDIA REMOTE AND THE WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER REMOTE.

It should work.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your 360. When you say you're having problems calibrating the Kinect, what are you using to select Yes/No? Do you have a wired Xbox 360 controller or a wireless one? If you have a wireless one, is it fully charged
and synced with the Xbox 360 properly?
