  1. Xbox 360 E Model Overheats Quickly and emits strange smell

    Merry Christmas everyone!

To start off, I received my Xbox 360 E model as a gift from family. One of the games I got with it was Titanfall, and after about 20-30 minutes of playing I noticed the main air vent (I keep my console horizontal so all the vents can breathe) was very warm.
I couldn't feel a lot of air come out of it, and the only vent that seemed to be expelling air was the left vent (top vent if used vertical) and the air was cold. A strange burning plastic smell was very strong around the main vent, and while it did go away
after awhile, the heat remains as long as the console is on (it still gets warm even on the dashboard).

Recently after about 30 minutes of playing COD Ghosts, I decided to play Minecraft and right in the middle of the World Generation it just froze. I hit the Guide button and the normal guide screen sound played but the screen was still frozen. I hit the power
buttons and there was a 5 second delay before the console actually turned off.

I did some research and common causes for this problem include a bad power brick or an inactive fan. (I couldn't find anything for this model in specific) I know the power brick is fully functional (orange when Xbox is not on, green in use). I used the console
for awhile to heat it up, and I flashed my tablet's light in the vent to see if anything was moving and I couldn't see anything in motion.

How and why is it overheating this much? Is there a fix? Someone please reply, I didn't get an answer on my last post and this is very concerning.

    :)

  2. New Xbox 360 E heats up very fast

I recently got an Xbox 360 E model as an early Christmas present. After about 5 minutes of playing through the Titanfall tutorial, the top panel (I keep my 360 horizontal) was HOT. I could smell something strange inside it and I can feel some air emit from
it. I turned it off, waits awhile, and sure enough it began to get progressively warmer (I was on the dashboard). This is very worrying, and this is a new console.

  3. Funny burning smell from brand new xbox 360

My kids got an xbox 360 kinnect for this Christmas. Everytime they play it it starts to emit a funny burning smell. I think it sort of smells like burned sugar.

    Could this be normal?

Sorry to hear it. I have a couple of questions for you.

    Was the console given recently?

    Was it new or used?

If the console was gifted within the last year and is new then you should still have a warranty on it so you can send it in to have it repaired. If it was used then I'm afraid there's not much choice for you. You'd need to either pay to send it in for
repairs or purchase a new console.

burning type smell coming from new xbox 360

    I have that too!

The first 360 E smelled like burned plastic, the whole room was full of it!

I exchange it, but the second 360 E smells the same, not so extrem, but the same smell!

I think they use cheap plastic or something, never hat that before with a new 360 or 360 S.

If it's the one that you got from the Taco Bell promo it just might be the tacos you smell.
