xbox 360 e, loud when disc in drive

i just got a xbox360 E. it runs geat, but when i have a disc in running a game, its loud, almost like an electric toothbrush. is this normal ?

Xbox 360 E model Disc Drive Issue/Loud Noise

Recently, my xbox 360 E model makes a rather loud noise when playing a game off of disc. It is occasionally, not all the time. I notice that when it makes this loud noise, if I press on the area above the disc drive, it quiets.

Any idea what could be causing this? Do you think it may damage my disc when doing this.

I have only had the console for 8 months, I wonder if this is something the warranty still covers?

 

Xbox E 360 DVD Drive noise

I recently bought an Xbox 360 E console. The DVD drive is very noisy when I first put a game in and quiets down after awhile, but it's still fairly loud. Is this normal?

My Xbox Arcade did that when it was playing a game. You can download the game disk onto the Xbox 360. This will get rid of the noise when playing that game, because it will have all of the files stored on the Xbox it self. It will just need the disk in to
verify ownership of that game.

that does not answer my question. i do not have a xbox arcade. i have a brand new xbox 360 E

 

just bought an 360 E yesterday due to my Ellite finally dieing, after setting it up and transfering data ect I continued playing Far Cry 3 and it was extremely quite.. Later on I put Halo 4 (which is a new disk) in and it was certainly "a lot" louder,..
sounded like what you mentioned "a toothbrush".. So I placed my other copy of Halo 4 into the 360E and it was quite once again which was quite strange.. Ive been experimenting with other disks this morning simply to see if it was just my Halo 4 disk that
was running loud, but this time it was the other H4 disk that was running louder.. Im gunna keep an eye on the situation in the next few days, and then exchange the machine if this continues due to the fact that "All disks should run vertually silent upon
the 360 E model.. To be honest when placing a disk into the machine, we shouldn't be wondering if that particular disk will run louder than the others.. Personally I think there's a fault with the machine as I expect electronict to run perfect after purchace,
especially when paying the amount we have payed for the latest version that is suposto be vertually silent.. Keep an eye on what disks run louder, and when.. And strongly consider exchanging the devise if thius continues like myself.. You certainly should
not have to install disks to run quite on this particular model.. And just for the record, playing games on Arcade will not effect the noise. Hope this helps

 

Yeah it is normal for some discs to be loud when using them. I wouldn't worry about it. I would follow SunkNath's advice to install the game to the hard drive (if you have one), that way it will read from the hard drive and be quicker at loading games
in as well.

 

I just bought an E model to replace my old elite that died.... Many many times. My first one made this noise (fans also loud especially when powering down) exchanged it and #2 is no different. I asked the gamestop if they could remove the glass bubble from
the display model and sure enough it was just as loud. I think it's just the console itself and normal operation parameters. As far as certain discs being louder I would think it's either some need to access the disc more or perhaps the newer drive is more
sensitive and some discs are slightly unbalanced.
