Try changing your resolution on the TV, if that doesn't work, maybe resetting factory settings on the TV? If that doesn't work then it's your TV, and not the Xbox.

    Xbox 360 E - HDMI blocky artifacts

    Hi

After 7 years of good gaming i decided that it was time to change my Xbox 360 Premium to a newer model.

The old one had many different problems, Overheating, red ring, freeze and noise problems and this problem, which

    this post is about.

    Pictures of the problem:

http://i.imgur.com/RqgsUlT.jpg (not the big blocks but the small ones)

    http://i.imgur.com/6qyVnoF.jpg

I don't know how to describe it other then its a "blocky grid of artifacts".

In the beginning i didn't notice it, it was first the later years they suddenly were there, so i thought it

was the Xbox failing, and that was the final reason for me to buy a new Xbox 360.

Today i baught my new Xbox 360 (E Model), guess what..doing the same blocky thing ;(

at this point i was thinking that it had to be normal, because what are the chance that it would happend to me twice.

I tried with different HDMI cables and tested with my PC monitor...same thing.

I found 2 fixes to this problem, but non that i prefer.

Changing the Reference Levels to Expanded, but colors get very blackish.

    or

Use component but thats only for older models of the xbox. (Worked on my old one, but the picture got blurred)

    My 2 questions:

Do all Xbox 360 do this? and why? if anyone can answer that.

Can i do anyting about it?

    Thx

Well for one (in that thread) I hope you don't have your brightness set that high (77) because if its properly calibrated for the colorspace you are using (RGB for games, YCbCr for video) then it should be around 50 and may be the cause of your artifacts
due to the quality of the TV panel and video processor.

The only thing that happens when an HDMI connection corrupts is green scan-line or snowing effects onscreen. Its digital so it works or it doesn't. Anything you are seeing is probably caused by the age of the TV or uncalibrated settings.

Hey there, so were you using HDMI on the old console? If so, I'm not sure why you would expect it to be any different when not upgrading the actual display. Anyway, have you made sure the display settings are set to what's optimal for the TV? You can do
    so following the steps here:
    support.xbox.com/.../improve-video-quality

Is your TV full HD 1080p? If it's not, try putting the setting down to 720p or whatever the screen is capable of.

Though I have seen a lot of pictures that look like the second one you've taken, I don't recall having it so obvious of my own screen, but I think it happens a little with all consoles, but more if your display is set wrong or not HD.
