    Xbox 360 E disc reading failure


    Hi, I was playing today but in the middle of the game, my Xbox 360 E stopped reading the disc, I even noticed that the optical drive stopped working, after this, the game didnt work correctly and the system asked me to clean de disc and restart the console..
    I bought the console and game 3 months ago and have been unharmed ever since, in perfectly normal conditions.. Anyone who experimented this? What should I do? Do I need to use the warranty? Thanks in advance!

    360 or next gen ?

    Haha I'm on Xbox number 12... I repeat that's 12 Xbox 360's since 2007 (that number include's under warranty repairs). 3 to RRoD and the rest to disc reading failure. The original Xbox I never replaced. This is why I'm actually glad the Xbox One is a
    brick, at least they're trying to prevent a repeat.

    A GOOD IDEA FOR PLAYING WITH NO DISC IN THE DRIVE.

    It's a huge deal because the failure of disc drives deters players from this new persepective of Xbox. It's just like current 360, which is heavily prone to disc drive failures. Im experiencing them myself, so only an all digital platform could alleviate
    ANY issue with reading game data. Ensuring a proper experience, I'd expect MS to just implement the ability that after 24 hours offline, inserting a disc should let you play THAT game. That way the drive still isn't used much, and it's a hugely small amount
    of people that would ever experience this issue. Then everybody becomes happy.

    Sorry to hear it. This definitely is not normal and if your disc reader is not reading your discs you should send the console in for repairs.

    Thanks for the reply, for me is very weird because I always take a lot of care of my belongings, and my Xbox really looks like knew, I even put a cloth over it when I dont use it in order to avoid that it gets dusty.. I think you're right, but, I tested
    a DVD movie and it worked perfectly well, only the game doesnt work, sadly, I cant test another game because I only have one, do you know how to spot a damaged disc? The game really looks like new, no scratches what so ever, thats why I think is the console,
    but the movie works perfectly well, that really puts me off.. Thanks in advance again

    Check the center of the disc. Make sure that the XBOX logo and hologram are visible, and that there are no cracks in the plastic. Sometimes, even imperfections unseen to the naked eye in this part of the disc can sometimes cause read errors.

    Check the center of the disc. Make sure that the XBOX logo and hologram are visible, and that there are no cracks in the plastic. Sometimes, even imperfections unseen to the naked eye in this part of the disc can sometimes cause read errors.

    Xbox one disc read issues and really getting fed up

    Mine stopped reading discs and I was lucky and had a week left on my warranty. BS that they are having the same issue with the Xbox One as the 360. Their disc drive failure rate is getting out of control. Now I get to wait 2-3 weeks for it to get repaired
    and returned to me. BS!

    Your console might need a repair. A disc that can not be read can have many reasons why it doesn’t read the disc. If it happens to all of your disc, it is probably a hardware failure that requires a repair.
