please help

Personally i wouldn't ask Radioshack.

Use the Xbox 360 VGA High-Definition AV cable to connect the gaming console to a PC monitor. The Xbox 360 VGA cable connects to the PC monitor's VGA port to render HD graphics. The cable is also equipped with standard red and white audio plugs for stereo
connection. Purchase the eight-foot shielded VGA cable directly from Xbox.com. As of February 2011, the Xbox 360 VGA HD AV cable retains for $39.99.

Step 1

Turn off the Xbox 360 and remove the power cord from the back panel of the console.

Step 2

Turn off the monitor and remove its power cord.

Step 3

Plug the VGA end of the connector cable into the VGA port of the monitor.

Step 4

Insert the other end of the cable into the AV port on the back panel of the Xbox 360.

Step 5

Plug the cable's red and white audio connectors into the red and white audio jacks of your stereo equipment.

Step 6

Reconnect the Xbox power cord. Connect the monitor's power cable.

Step 7

Power on the Xbox 360 and the monitor. The Xbox Dashboard will load to the monitor display.

3. A/V ports

I'm buying an xbox 360 online off walmart. i dont know if its a regular xbox 360 or xbox 360 E. I've heard that that the xbox 360 E models have just an HDMI port and no A/V port. I've got a couple of questions 1) is this true? 2) if they have only an HDMI
port will i be able to hook it up to my VGA monitor? (LG L192WS)

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Xbox-360-4GB-Console/25843556 this is the walmart link. Thanks!!

Yes, you will need to get an adapter as an ordinary cable will not do, as they typically only work one direction…and not the one you need. I use a Cable Matters one that is USB powered on my Xbox One to use with my projector - they are available from Amazon.
Be careful when you are looking for non-powered ones, I've heard of some that do work but I am personally leery of them - make sure you read the description, specs and any feedback before buying.

Hi

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums.

It's best to simplify the connections from your Xbox 360 console to your display if possible. If you have The Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable, then these are the steps to connect to your monitor:

1. Connect the A/V connector on the VGA cable to the A/V port on the console.
2. Connect the VGA connector on the VGA cable to the VGA port on your HDTV or monitor.
3. Connect the left and right (white and red) audio connectors on the VGA cable to the audio port on the monitor.
4. Turn on the monitor and console.

Make sure you are also connecting the red and white audio connectors to the monitor.

How to connect my xbox 360 to my computer monitor? Please Help
DVI or VGA to HDMI adaptor. you will not have sound. so either a RJ11 to RCA adaptor or a good set of surround phones /w mic are good.
He said he had an Xbox 360 VGA Adapter. So yes, he will have sound and does not need an extra video connector.

You hook up the RCA to 3.5mm adapter i described to the red and white and then plug your PC or headphone speakers into the 3.5mm connector. Plug the VGA cable into the monitor's VGA port and use the monitor's DVI port for your computer (assuming your computer
can output DVI).

-

Again, if the computer does NOT have a DVI port (I looked up the monitor and it does has a DVI port), then you have to use a VGA KVM switch to flip between two VGA connections easily.

Playing Xbox 360 on my PC monitor

Please check to ensure your monitor comes with HDMI port - Most older monitors only comes with DVI and VGA.

-

If yours is the latter, you will have to purchase the Xbox 360 VGA HD AV cable.
