Xbox 360 downloads failing

Hello.

I've been having problems with my Xbox 360 lately where downloads of larger items will reach around 80 percent and then fail, saying "Can't download <game> and it becomes a corrupted file. I assumed it was a hard drive issue so I transferred my profile to another
360 and tried again, and it failed again. Does anyone have any ideas?

Downloading fails

kk not pausing the download at all, still failing. Also enquired and three other xbox live members are experiencing the same issue on the 360. No download issues for Xbox one users. Some downloads fail at 7%.

My XBOX is failing to download the update after performing the LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X action.

 

cleaning the cache helped sometimes when I got xbox 360 issues back in the days

How to Clear the Cache on Xbox 360

 

Download problems can sometimes be fixed by deleting the Xbox Live cache and clearing the console’s system cache. Here's how:

1. On your console, go to settings, and then select System.
   
2. Select Storage, and then select your storage device.
3. Select System Items.
4. Select Marketplace System Data.
5. Select Delete.
6. Clear your Xbox 360 system cache.
   
7. Restart your console.
8. Go back to Download History and try
   downloading the item again.

Unfortunately, I did as you asked and it did the same thing. At about 80 percent, it popped the little notification that it "Can't download <game>" and failed, leaving a corrupted file. Any other suggestions?

 

Did you clear ypu cache or tried to reboit your router??

 

Does your account region match your physical location?

 

Have you tried hard rest on your console?

 

It's not specific to the console. It did it with my profile on another Xbox, but I have done that, yes.

Please try to update the console and see if that fixes the console.

Roll back:
Troubleshoot problems with an update to your Xbox 360 console (Solution 7)

After the update finishes try to Power cycle the console.

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the
Xbox button on your controller.

Note If you don't see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts, repeat these steps. Make sure that you hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.

So, I think the problem may not be hardware related. I downloaded Anna Extended Edition, and it did the same thing, it stopped the download at 80 percent, but it told me that the download completed and I can play the game. So far, I've only noticed this
instance of failure for Halo 3(which i purchased last week) and Halo Reach(which I've owned for a while). Does anyone know why certain g!mes may fail while others don't?

 

So, I've done a little more testing. Halo 3(5.8 gigs), Halo Reach(6+ gigs) and Hitman Blood Money(5 gigs, Free with Gold that I redeemed today) all do it. Anna: Extended Edition(1.1 gigs) downloaded fine, as did Bejeweled 2(less than 1 gig). Forza Horizon
2 Presents Fast & Furious(2.2 gigs), jumped from 80 to 99 percent, then completed fine. Bully, at 2.96 gigs, worked fine. Prey(4.27) failed. So it seems to be some limit that it won't let me download beyond.

But it's not tied to any one console. It seems to be tied to my profile, which is odd.

Let me ask how do you connect to the internet to download? Could it be there is a download cap set? that sounds like what is going on due to it seems anything over 4 gigs is not downloading. Please, be sure to let us know.

I've gone back and forth between wired and wireless. I don't have an issue downloading games on my Xbox One, just the 360. I just downloaded Prey on my Xbox One without issue, and that's a wireless connection as well.

I'm (obviously) not familiar with the inner workings of the tech, but is it possible its recognizing my Xbox 360s and limiting those for some reason?

I'm using another account and another Xbox 360(I have a lot of them at the moment) to see if its limited to my main account or not.
