    Xbox 360 down/upload speeds

I have an Xbox 360 that I use occasionally to play games or watch movies, but I cannot use it for YouTube or anything that relies on a decent internet connection because of my problem. My internet provides 100 mb/ sec on all of my devices, but on my Xbox
360, I get 0.35 mbps download and 3.12 upload. Does anyone know the cause of this drastic decrease in internet speed?

    :)

    Xbox 360 down/upload speeds

Thank you all for the quick responses. I have an Xbox 360S and I am using wifi as ethernet is not an option available to me. My console is about 10 feet away from the modem separated only by 1 wall. I have tried moving the console around to several different
places and the speed has not change. I test the speed via the network statistics option under the network settings in the actual console settings. If there is no other solution other than ethernet, then it is not a big deal as I only use the internet on my
    console for youtube and downloads

    Thank you, -AJ

    Hey Chewymangoes,

Alright, let me try and tackle this issue for you my friend!

So, firstly let me help you by letting you know a little something. Older tech means older 'internet chips' if you will, which means you will get far less speeds on your 360 as apposed to you Xbox One S or X.

Also, I need to let you know that on the base 360 you must have an internet adapter that is plugged into your console (the Xbox 360S doesn't need the adapter because it has an internal chip) so make absolutely sure that your adapter
(if applicable) is fully plugged in and there is no dust in the way, having a new adapter would clearly make the experience much better but as the 360 is many years old that's not an option right now. Having the adapter just slightly unplugged
may cause an interference and cause lower speeds, so keep that in mind.

Okay, now once again, keep in mind the 360 adapter is capable of speeds up to
    roughly
300mbps which is clearly not what you are reviving.

So, that being said let me cut the [Mod Removed - Profanity],
a likely fix for you would be to use ethernet, in which case low speeds have no reason to belong unless it is an actual internet issue or a
    core Xbox 360 issue.

I know most of my answer was base information, but I had to do a little research myself to understand the issue as well and it seems like as long as your internet is truly fine, and you reset the console and make sure everything is firmly in place it should
be good. The 360 is old and quite unpredictable at this point that anything
    could
    theoretically be the issue.

I hope I helped in some way and I am sorry for your issue.

How do you test the up-/download speed on your Xbox 360?

If you use the Xbox 360 Internet Explorer browser, and go to a speedtest site, be aware that the 360 browser is not suitable for downloads, as it has next to none temporary storage space.

So if a speedtest site wants the browser to download some test files to check the speed, the console will download a part, run out of space, shuffle temporary internet files around, download again and so on. This will give you lower download speed indicators.

Also, is your Xbox 360 connected via WiFi? Maybe you have passive interference where your Xbox is placed. Try moving the console a bit, and see if the reception improves.

Is this wired or wireless? If wireless, try using a cable.

If wireless, try a WiFi anslyser app to see if the channel you're using is congested / getting swamped, and if so try changing the channel on your router
