Xbox 360 display issue

hi, firstly apologies if this is the wrong area, If so feel free to move it.

So my missus wanted to crack the Xbox 360 out and play some old games, I set her up on a new 19” Alba tv, and while every other game hasn’t had any issues, while she plays dark souls 2 there’s been an odd issue. In certain areas, the tv will just turn itself
off for about 8-10 seconds, display “initialising” then come back. You can imagine dark souls like that, and it’s stressing her out.

It’s connected via HDMI as I don’t have a composite cable, I’ve tried clearing the cache, fiddling with some display options but to be honest, I’m not the most tech savvy person else I wouldn’t be here. Any insight would be massively appreciated, as I’d
really like her to enjoy this gem of a game. Thanks.

Have you tried using the original HDMI cable (you used when you encountered this problem) on another TV? Maybe it could be the cable?

Well I was playing GTA IV on my 360 yesterday, no problems. I turn on the console, my TV screen flashes blue and black (as if it gets signal and then loses it) every few seconds, and has the message "Over Range" in the top corner. It is plugged in through
HDMI. I try the Xbox on another TV, it works fine. I swap out the HDMI cables, no result. I try a laptop on the TV using HDMI, it displays perfectly. I've tried the "Y+RT" trick, again no result. This console has only ever been connected to this TV, apart
from today when I tested it on the other TV. What are my options?

What you are describing sounds like it may possibly be some sort of issue with he television itself, If possible can you try connecting the console to another television and see if same thing still happens?

 

unfortunately I don’t have a second television to try on. This is a new one mind you, it was just out the box. I just find it odd that no other game or service is having this issue, just dark souls 2.
