    i just got a new vizio 40" HD smart TV and i noticed that when using Component cables if i set my display to 1080p i get a dark line running down the left side of my screen and if i have it set to 720p the screen gets slightly wavy. but if i set it to 1080i
    i have absolutely no problems. and if i hook it up through HDMI if i set it to 1080p i get a small border that is slightly brighter than the rest of the screen but if i set it to 720p i have no problems. any idea how to fix this or is it just the 360?

    Try the same cable and Xbox 360, on another display. Try another cable, with the same Xbox 360 and display.

    This will help determine if it's the cable, display, or Xbox 360 at fault.

    Check the video output settings on your console. Numerous settings to play about with so try them all and see which gives the best result
