    Xbox 360 discs won't read on my Xbox One console


    Hi, I've had this current problem for a long time now and it's really annoying me so i hope someone could find a solution to this Xbox 360 discs won't read on my Xbox One console :p.

    Basically, I think there might be something wrong with my xbox's disc drive. The strange thing about this problem is, I can play xbox one disc games, dvds but not any xbox 360 games. I've tried all gears of war discs, halo reach, rainbow six and the list
    continues!

    When i insert the 360 discs into the xbox one, nothing happens. No disc moment at all. About 30 seconds later, a message appears saying "Restart the app, then try again. Make sure you are using an xbox one game, a music cd, or a movie on blue ray or dvd.
    (0x80820002)"

    This happens with every 360 game I try which is available on backwards compatibility. I just find it so strange that it's only the 360 discs that my xbox doesn't like. It's obviously not a bad disc because it's happening to all of them. Everything else works
    apart from this Xbox 360 discs won't read on my Xbox One console :(.

    Now I have followed all the steps on the Xbox website concerning disc problems and I have had no luck. I have also factory reset my console and it still doesn't work D:.

    If someone has a simple solution to this it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey!

    I'm extremely confused. My xbox refuses to read ANY GAME Discs, yet I tried DVD discs and they work fine...

    So? why won't my xbox read my game discs, I recently bought COD: GHOSTS and it won't even read that and it's brand new!!

    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Ok, update dvds don't work either so I think it's highly likely it's a laser problem. I believe the xbox one has 2 lasers to read discs, one for blue ray and other for cds/dvds and I assuming thats whats not working anymore. Don't know how you would go about
    fixing that though. My guess is that you have to send it off for repairs but my warranty literally ran out like 2 weeks ago Xbox 360 discs won't read on my Xbox One console :(

    The best next step to take is to contact our phone support team to request a repair. I see that your warranty expired a couple weeks ago, but it never hurts to ask what your options are. Xbox 360 discs won't read on my Xbox One console :)

    Hi,

    It's not the discs it's your console. If your console can not read DVD movies then it won't read Xbox 360 games either. DVD movie discs use the same type of discs that 360 games use (DVD-9).

    The Xbox One has two lasers to read discs. One for Blu-rays - which Xbox One discs games are made of - and one for reading DVD's and Xbox 360 games.

    Hi,

    Can you confirm if your console can read DVD discs?

    Xbox 360 games are on DVD and Xbox One games are on Blu-Ray. The Xbox One's Blu-ray drive has a separate laser to read DVD's, if it has malfunctioned, Xbox 360 games can't be read and the digital download for BC games won't start.

    To test this out, try playing a DVD movie disc. In all likelihood these films won't play and that will confirm drive malfunction. If this is the case you'll need your console repaired/replaced.

    Hi,

    Do other BC Xbox 360 game discs work on your Xbox One? For the Xbox One to recognise the game and download it from Live it must:

    • Be able to read the disc. Check if the disc is dirty or damaged
    • Have a working Optical drive capable of reading Xbox 360 discs. Try other BC discs or test a DVD movie.

    The Xbox One has two diodes for reading discs in the optical Blu-ray Drive. A red laser is used to read Xbox 360 and DVD movies and a blue laser to read Xbox One games and Blu-ray movies. If the diode for reading DVD's is faulty, BC Xbox 360 discs won't

    I would like to see a laser that can read all xbox games from all the xbox consoles. Maybe the choice to install or read directly from the disc like how the xbox 360 was. Also a disc release button in case the disc gets stuck or won't eject. I have
