Xbox 360 Discs on Xbox One stopped working

About 6 months ago all of my xbox 360 game discs, that previously worked and are still in working condition (work on older console), stopped working on my xbox one. In the end the only way to play it was to buy it again, I did all their troubleshooting and
'chatted' with multiple live supporters who were no help. It honestly seemed like an update happened that disabled backwards compatible discs from working, so that people would have to buy the game again. I am not the only person I know who had this issue.

Has anyone else come across anything like this? If it's just me, and the one other, I could see it being a console disc reading issue. But if lots of people encountered this than I could be right, and they updated it so we would have purchase the game again.

I just can't see all my discs, probably 5-10 that I tried, becoming unusable overnight.

Or my consoles disc reader to stop reading 360 and original xbox game discs, but read xbox one game discs flawlessly.

And the fact that someone encountered the same exact issue, at the same time, makes me suspicious.

If this has happened to you, PLEASE speak up so we can resolve this with Microsoft. I don't like being scammed.

I've noticed that it is just immediately after playing an Xbox 360 disc. Once I put in an Xbox One disc it sounds like the disc is being read but it just stops trying (if you understand). Xbox one discs themselves work just fine but not after 360 discs.
I just checked out the disc troubleshooting and I will try out those fixes. I'll keep posted

Do you have access to another Xbox 360, to see if the discs work on the different console?

Another suggestion I have is to check the discs for scratches or dust. Xbox 360 discs can be quite sensitive, I have had a couple myself that stop working after a small scratch.

Hiya!

Paul from the Xbox Forums Team here to assist with the issue. I see that you've contacted support with this issue as well as trying several troubleshooting steps. Have you tried clearing the persistent storage? To do so please go to the settings on the console.
From settings go ahead and click on disc and Blu-ray then from Blu-ray you'll find persistent storage. After clearing it I recommend performing a
power cycle on the console. I hope this helps fix the issue.

I had it happen to me where most of my 360 discs wouldn't work but I got the laser replaced and that sorted it. You may want to try a DVD/Bluray laser lens cleaner but you do so at your own risk.
