Xbox 360 discs not installing on Xbox one..

Discus and support Xbox 360 discs not installing on Xbox one.. in XBoX Games and Apps to solve the problem; Anyone else in preview having this issue.     Xbox 360 discs not installing on Xbox one..


    Anyone else in preview having this issue.

    All my digital games work just fine but when I put either perfect dark zero or kameo discs on the drive it just tells me it's not supported.

    These are launch discs also, not platinum versions.

    I know this is a beta but I really don't understand how the software can recognise discs for some but not for others.

    It's the same hardware and software patch.

    360 games have to be installed to the hard drive just like the XB1 games. Each game differs in size, but they are no where near the size of XB1 games.
    360 games have to be installed to the hard drive just like the XB1 games. Each game differs in size, but they are no where near the size of XB1 games. They are 6-7GB, one of the largest games GTAV on the Xbox 360 was a little over 7GB on disc 1 and disc 2.

    Xbox One will not be backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games, digital or discs, so I would suggest you hang on to your Xbox 360.

    If the discs are the pal region discs, then that is why they wont work. Currently the preview only supports ntsc discs, this should be fixed at launch though. Next time you have issues with the preview please post in the preview forums, that way you will
    get the relevant support you need. If you are having trouble accessing the forums, then make a post in these forums

    forums.xbox.com/.../4585.aspx     and a member of support will be able to grant you access to them.

    Ah ok thank you. Perhaps you can answer a quick question for me then.

    Can you play 360 games offline if you keep the disc in the drive?

    Just for clarification. I'm in the UK using a pal Xbox one with pal 360 game discs that don't install.

    So I'd have to import ntsc discs (if they are region free) to install disc games.

    Or should my pal discs work in my pal console?

    During the preview, only NTSC discs are supported, but when the feature launches during the fall, all regions should be supported.

    The only games that wont work on Pal disk is Perfect Dark and Kameo all other games will work using the pal disk. NTSC disks will not work on a console but in a PAL region if this was the case there be no point in region control in the 1st place.

    You should be able to download Perfect dark and Kameo from the marketplace if you live in a PAL region

    When back compat lunches later this year PAL disks will be supported

    Mass effect is PAL and works.

    You really should be posting in the preview forums every thing you need to know about BC is there for you.

    You haven't stated if you are using a Xbox 360 or a Xbox One. If you are trying to install on a Xbox One, then the whole game installs without the need to install the 2nd disc. If you are using a Xbox 360, then you do not need to install the discs.

    Some further information.

    I installed the game on my XBOX 360 to see what was supposed to happen.

    On XBOX 360 you still get the same microsoft store wanting money for the DLC if you only install and play disc 1.

    On XBOX 360 if you insert disc 2 it lets you run the expansion installer.

    On XBOX One inserting disc 2 simply sets the game running, exactly as if you had inserted disc one, with no option to run the expansion installer.

    The Xbox One has to be online to install Xbox 360 games, even if you have the disc for the Xbox 360 game in the Xbox One.

    Xbox One features.

    • Select digital games for Xbox 360 and the original Xbox work on Xbox One. The ones you own will appear in the Ready to Install section of your games & apps. Select the game to install it.
    • For disc-based games, insert the disc. If it's on the list, the game will download. You'll need to keep the disc in the drive to play.
    • Games for the original Xbox also work on Xbox One, but compatibility is one way: you can't play Xbox One games on Xbox 360 or the original Xbox.

    So the disc will read properly while the game is installing, but when you try to launch the game after it's installed, it's telling you that the disc is unreadable?

    If you're seeing that with an Xbox 360 console, the
    Xbox 360 disc guide     can help you out with troubleshooting.

    For an Xbox One console, the
    Xbox One disc guide     has the steps you'll want.

    Run through those & let us know if you see any improvement!
