    Hello everyone,

    I have had my original XBOX 360 since 2008 with minimal issues. However, the last 3 months I have had a ton of issues. For one, the disc drive is almost always stuck when I try to open it, with the controller or by hand. It usually takes me between 10-15
    tries before it opens. Another issue is that once I've been playing a game on a disc for about 20 minutes, there is a black screen and it tells me the disc is unreadable. This is completely wrong because all of my discs are in pristine condition. I have been
    extremely frustrated and will never buy another XBOX console in my entire life at this rate. Please give me some advice on how to fix this because all of my favorite games are on this gen, not PS4 yet.

    A weird disc reading problem

    Best off following the steps for resolving Disc Reading issues here
    support.xbox.com/.../disc-drive-solution

    If the trouble shooting steps dont resolve it then the website should suggest to set up a repair for the console.

    Hello SnazzySki98:

    I had this problem with my Original Xbox 360 as well and I noticed a good bit of dust was causing the disks to be unreadable I fixed it by getting some pressured air and blowing a little bit in there and cleaning off the disk tray.

    As for the disk tray being stuck you can try cleaning the edges of the disk tray when its open as well as the edges of the xbox around where the disk tray is while its open with a dry cloth. ( I did it with a slighty damp one but I have a second Xbox 360
    so I wasn't to worried about being gentle )

    GDN smp91, Microsoft has specifically state to not use compressed air to attempt cleaning your console. You can end up causing debris to clog up components that will not be easy to clear. Using a vacuum at the vents is the recommended method to clear out
    dust.

    If you are having disc read issues, please try the
    Xbox Disc Drive Solution     and let us know if that helps. If not, can you test the game disc in a different console to see if it is a game disc specific issue or a console specific issue? Let us know what happens. Thanks!

    Is the disc being recognized by the Xbox 360?

    If the issue persists,

    On Step 8 in the article: If your Xbox 360 console can read another disc of the same type, the disc may be the source of the problem.
    Get a replacement disc or troubleshooting help.

    Contact the disc manufacturer for a replacement disc or troubleshooting help.
