Xbox 360 Death

Hi All,

Just recently the screen went black on my Xbox and after checking 'Support' and following the instructions I determined that my machine had died. I contacted the support team who advised me that the machine would need to be replaced for a new unit.

Unfortunately this would cost me £65 which I understand. However I've considered upgrading to an XBOX one for a while now but unfortunately locally that would mean supplying a working Xbox which means I would still have to pay £65.

Do Microsoft have any trade in deals where they would accept the broken unit and offer me money off an upgrade or does this mean that I have lost the machine entirely?

Would it be advisable to change companies and go with the competition?

If anyone has any advice or suggestions I would be very grateful.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection Xbox One

I have played the a game to death both on the 360 and the Xbox one. One of my all time favourite games.

My xbox got the Red Ring's of death and I called up Microsoft and they told me ALL 360's for Red Ring of Death only.

If you don't have the money for a new 360 that wouldn't make any sense
IMO unless the "competition" is cheaper.

I'm gonna assume you have bought games for your 360. They won't work on the "competitions" console.

If it was me, I would just buy a One. (some of your 360 games might actually be BC) Ones are cheap.

Around 2017, not that far away really, their will be completly New consoles. So why not simply wait til then to replace you broken console.

All 3 manufactures will be rolling out 'fresh units,' so you're sure to find something you like.

 

Do you mean a new model of the X1? Because it hasn't been out long enough to be replaced with a new gen console yet. Next gen won't happen for about another ten years.

 

I can't posts links eber, but MS recently leaked that a console 4 X more powerful than the current console is in the works.

Also a 2 TB slim version of the X1.

But you know how these leak go. If they are received well by the public, they are then made 'Official" but if not, they are then throw down the Orwellian rabbit hole where even search results are errased. Or, rewritten.

 

Well, the "2 TB slim version of the X1" would just be a new model as I suggested. I've heard rumors of an X2, which I think is what you're referring to with the "console 4 X more powerful". But here's the thing, they still haven't hardly made any X1 games.
So I don't believe they will go to a next gen otherwise everybody who has bought an X1 will be royally pizzed off. They MAY make a new console that is faster, more storage, etc... they MAY even give it a new name, but I'm sure the games will still be X1 games
that can be played on either model. Just like all the 360 games can be played on either the old fat models or the new slim models.

 

Well they did suggest that all future xbox's would be BC to the previous generation.

The next gen, code named. Scorpio (Xbox) or whatever, if the rumor holds true, will be out in 2017. While the 2TB slim is just that. A slimer version of the current X1 sporting a 2 TB hdd. So nothing special there.

PS is also rumored to be coming out with a suped up console, as well as Nintendo. So the OP would be wise NOT to replace his/her console until knowing for a fact that these rumors will pan out or not, thus making a more informed decision, and not being,
like some. "royally pizzed off."

 

BC is one thing, but if they come out with a console and call it X2, Scorpio or whatever, and the games for it aren't playable on the X1... every single person that bought an X1 will pitch a fit. And if the games are playable on the X1, then regardless of
what they call it, it will just be a new X1 model.

Whether the OP wants to wait is up to him. Myself, I feel the X1 has just now finally gotten to a reasonable price. $340.00 for a Xbox One 1TB, that's what X1 should have cost on release. Now that it's a decent price, I'll probable finally pick one up before
the year is out.

 

If i heard correctly, the games for it will be playable on the X1, except maybe the Oculas Rift games and possibly others that will require more power to run than the current model can deliver.

But that's all speculation for now, and I don't see it happening that way as it will PO a lot of current gen gamers either way.

 

Did you check your hdmi cable? I switched mine to a monster cable and it fixed my black screen problem. Sad thing is I havent had a issue with the old hdmi cable when I hooked it up to the ps3
