Xbox 360 corrupted internal memory unit

Hi,

My Xbox 360's internal storage is showing up as containing files (only 450 MB out of the 3 GB capacity is used), but it shows up as empty when I go to it. Consequently, I cannot access my profile or any of my game files. I am wondering if there is a way
to fix this or if there is someone I can contact for help. I have tried to find a way to contact Microsoft support but I have only been brought to the Virtual Agent (which is absolutely useless unless you have an ultra-specific question) and have been unable
to contact anyone.

I'd really like to be able to recuperate some of my saves, if nothing else. Please let me know if anyone know of any solution to this.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. I'd be happy to help.

Can you explain specifically what prevents you from accessing your profile or game saves? What error message do you get?

I recommend clearing the storage unit's cache in order to troubleshooting storage issue. Take a look at the support article, "How to clear the cache on
Xbox 360" for instructions on how to clear the cache. Restart your Xbox afterwards and then try accessing your storage unit from the console settings again.

Try that and let us know if it helps.

Hi Diego,

There is no error message (except when I try to download an update that I suspect is a consequence of this issue). Basically, when I go to the Storage menu, and go down to the Internal Storage, it says there are only 450 MB free of the 3 GB capacity (which
is normal - it was like that previously). However, when I click on Internal Storage, all the section say that 0.0 KB are being used, as if there was absolutely nothing in this storage space.

The internal storage is where my profile (console-only) and all my game files are stored. Hence, I cannot access them as I believe the files in the internal storage have been corrupted. I believe the update and subsequent error message when I try to do the
update come from all the previous updates having been corrupted from the internal storage.

I was wondering if this is a problem that has been encountered before and if there is any known solution to recover my game files.

Thanks for reaching out the Forums for advice on how to possibly help with this storage problem.

I can understand how running into this peculiar situation could be disheartening. If your console was working pretty well until this happened, I suggest rolling back your console's updates as outlined in Solution 7 of our support article

Troubleshoot problems with an update to your Xbox 360 console.

When you get a chance, give that a shot and let us know how that helped.

LB + RB + X twice on the storage screen to delete all updates. Clear your cache a few times, reboot your console, redownload the updates. Try again.
