Xbox 360 controllers are draining batteries very fast

Hello -

Just recently, as in the past 2-3 weeks, my Xbox 360 controllers (both of them) have started going through batteries very quickly. I've gone through 8 AA batteries since it started. They last about 2-3 days with only about 4 hours of play time. Previously,
the batteries would last for many weeks and much more play time. The controllers are shutting off on their own, the console is not being left on, the batteries are from the same pack I've been using for months, no change in games or controller feedback, distance
from controller to console is the same. Literally nothing has changed at all. Overnight the controllers seemed to just start eating the batteries. Any ideas?

P.S. To those that will say to get a wired connection, take a hike.

How often do the batteries in your control run out?

I tend to use rechargeable batteries, but they do get drained quickly by the 360 controller.

 

XBOX ONE BUILD QUALITY

The two I own are IMO way better than any of my 360 controllers, they feel very solid. Batteries last a long time, great job MS.

 

Not rechargeable batteries I assume?

Are you able to test the "used" batteries in something else to see if they actually are drained?

Sorry to hear you are running into these issues with the Batteries.

If you have only used these 2 controllers and they keep draining faster than usual, It could be that the controllers themselves are the issue. I would suggest using a different controller to see if the battery issue is the same or if it improves your battery
life.

Another suggestion would be to use the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit, Here is a
support article with support on how to use it.

My best advice, would be to remove the batteries from the controllers, until you are ready to use them. I have funnily enough, had some issues with the new-ish Sea of Thieves controller, faking that it's running out of battery life, but when I remove my
Xbox battery pack, and re-insert it, it shows as full..

Try looking at the contact points of your battery caddy - make sure that they are clean and shiny, and make good contact.
