XBOX 360 Controller Won't Sync with Receiver

I've reserached for hours and I can't find any info that works.

To start, my device manager DOES recognise the receiver and I've tried all drivers. If I press the sync button on both the controller and receiver they will "recognise" each other but won't connect.

I was using my controller for Forza and after being idle for 5 mins it's gone haywire.

Anyone know what else I can do?

Trouble with my Xbox 360 Wireless Controller on my PC

Hi,

The Xbox 360 wireless controller won't work with the play and charge kit on it's own on a PC. The Controller always remains wireless, it can't be changed to a wired controller. To use a 360 wireless controller you'll need an Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver.
Microsoft no longer make these, but it is possible to buy a third party receiver, although installing them can be troublesome.

The Play and charge can be used with the PC, but only to charge the controller. The driver is only designed to automatically sync the controller to the Gaming receiver.

Only the Xbox One controller can be turned into a wired controller with an Xbox One Play and Charge, or a standard USB to Micro USB cable.

Xbox 360 help/fix

So my Xbox 360, I can turn it on and see it on my tv screen and everything..but the green light some times doesn't light up & my controller won't sync but my controller can turn on But even when the light turns on my controller still won't sync help?

Hi,

The Xbox 360 wireless protocol is not Bluetooth. This is why your 360 controller won't sync to your wireless receiver. PlayStation Dual Shock uses BT, the 360 does not. Only the Xbox One X controller can be connected via Bluetooth.

If you want to use a wireless 360 controller you will need to buy the Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver. Don't buy the Xbox One receiver as it does not support 360 controllers either.

Well for one that's for the Xbox One, I'm talking about an Xbox 360 controller. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver countless times, it just won't connect. Something I've noticed is that when I press the sync button on the controller and then on
the receiver, the controllers lights quickly stop flashing, indicating that it is in some way communicating with the receiver, but just won't connect. I've also tested both the controller and the receiver on a different computer and they are both perfectly
functional meaning the blame definitely lies with Windows.

I have recently bought a Windows 10 laptop and for some reason, the controller works absolutely fine on it, so the receiver is still good. However, I still want to be able to use it on my PC. So what could be the problem?

Thank you for keeping us updated. The troubleshooting steps that have been completed thus far seem to indicate an issue with the computer that the receiver is being connected to. Are you able to connect the wireless receiver to a different Windows 10 computer,
and sync the controller to the wireless receiver? This is so we can narrow down the remaining troubleshooting steps that must be taken to get the controller to sync to the wireless receiver. Be sure to let us know the results!

Hello, I've completely clean-booted my PC and also installed the latest updates (that took 2 hours btw), but still, of course, it doesn't work :[ .

The curious thing is that if I hook the receiver up to my android phone with an OTG cable, the receiver and controller get connected instantly once I hold both sync buttons, but the controller never shows "player 1", as all lights flash on an off.

Any more help, please?
