Xbox 360 controller won't sync to windows 10

I have two wireless controllers both worked and synced to my laptop around 2 months ago, between then I used them on a different PC on a different wireless receiver and now they do not sync to my laptop. I have tried every troubleshoot method, entered two
microsoft chats the first saying must be something wrong with the receiver, I bought a new one and still no sync. The second chat ended with them saying

""As per checking the available update for your controller. Actually we only have an available driver for Windows 7 and Windows XP. It seems that the Windows 10 OS is already updated and the requirements for your controller is not already compatible
for the certain PC's OS.""

and giving me a link to a forum to request a new software for it to work on windows 10, however this is not the case as I know someone who uses their 360 controller on their windows 10 PC just fine and can't find anywhere other people having the same
problems as me with this version of windows. The controllers work fine on my 360 and so there must be something missing from my laptop that is not allowing them to sync? A little file that I may have accidentally deleted or something like that

xbox 360 controller is "working properly" but fails to sync

Wired xbox 360 controller is "working properly" on windows 10, but fails to sync, all 4 lights on the controller keep blinking. any assistance would be appreciated.

Xbox 360 controller wont work on Windows 10

My controller won't automatically install either. I have windows 10 up to date and the xbox 360 works with the xbox. Anyone help?

The drivers needed are already included with Windows 10. It would be worth downloading the Media Creation Tool and choosing to "Upgrade this PC now" to reinstall Windows 10. You can choose not to lose any files or installed apps; so it should be less of
a hassle.

Found it and re installed Windows 10, the controllers still do not sync to the wireless receiver

okay so I borrowed a friends controller and it works! So my two controllers just aren't unsyncing from the previous wireless receiver and computer I used them on, does anyone know how I can unsync them?

Hey there TG SilentStorm.

You shouldn't need to unsync the controllers. Once you sync them with another device they should automatically unsync from a previous device. Have you possibly tested one of these controllers with an Xbox 360 to see if they're able to connect there?

yeah they both connect to my 360 fine but for some reason won't sync to laptop

Thanks for clarifying, apologies for the delay in response. Do you possibly have access to the wireless receiver you were able to connect your controllers to? If so, can you test to make sure they sync? That would lead me to believe that this is an issue
with your adapter and not your PC Software or Controller Hardware.

sorry hadn't checked on this in a longtime I have a little update. I borrowed a friends wireless 360 controller and it syncs and works on my laptop with my wireless receiver however my controllers still do not sync

Hi,

Sounds like a faulty controller to me. Especially if it used to work but now it doesn't and the fact that you've tried it on two different computer's.

Downloading drivers won't help as there are no updated drivers. The drivers for the Xbox 360 controllers are built into Windows 10. There no issues with Xbox 360 controllers and Windows 10 to my knowledge.

The only way for sure would be to try another Xbox 360 controller or a third party Xinput supported controller. Failing that an Xbox One or Series X|S controller.

How to set up an Xbox 360 Controller for Windows

Set up a wired controller on Windows 10

Follow these steps to install your Xbox 360 wired controller on Windows 10:

Plug the Xbox 360 controller into any USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on the computer.
Windows 10 will automatically install drivers for your controller, so you won't have to download or install software other than Windows 10 updates. Once you see the pop-up notification that the drivers have been installed, you can use your controller.
Open a game or the Xbox app and test your controller by pressing a button, pulling a trigger, or moving a stick on the controller.

Notes

If your Xbox 360 wired controller is not detected by your PC, try plugging it into a different USB port, and then test it again.
If your controller still does not work, check that Windows 10 is fully updated. Install any updates and then try again.
Refer to your game documentation for information about how to configure the Xbox 360 controller for a specific game

hey thanks for the help I tried turning it on manual and the controller sync but after that it won't sync anymore and the lights keep on flashing on the controller. when I try to go sync it with the 360 but the 360 doesn't pick it up and the lights still
flash on the controller. what does this also mean?

Well for one that's for the Xbox One, I'm talking about an Xbox 360 controller. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver countless times, it just won't connect. Something I've noticed is that when I press the sync button on the controller and then on
the receiver, the controllers lights quickly stop flashing, indicating that it is in some way communicating with the receiver, but just won't connect. I've also tested both the controller and the receiver on a different computer and they are both perfectly
functional meaning the blame definitely lies with Windows.
