    Xbox 360 controller not working on the Xbox app


    I have two xbox 360 controllers, one cabled and one wireless, and I have them both up and running correctly on my computer: I can play games with them both on Steam, the Epic Games Launcher and Uplay. Unfortunately though, whenever I launch a game through
    the xbox app, the games are not playable via the controller (neither cabled nor wireless).

    A friend of mine was able to play though, by using a xbox One controller, so I was wondering if the old xbox 360 controllers were not supported anymore by the official microsoft xbox app.

    The new Game Pass for PC offer is up, and I subscribed to it, because I think it's a great offer, however, if I had to change controllers to be able to enjoy fully these games, I don't know if I would continue with the subscription, considering that other
    competitor's app are offering me a better retro-compatibility with an old microsoft controller.

    Hi there,

    A 360 controller will work with a 360 console, and an Xbox one controller will work with an Xbox One, but a 360 controller will not work with an Xbox One and vice versa.

    if that doesn't work then finding a cheep controller might be your only option

    The Xbox Console Companion app does not work with the Xbox 360, it only works with the Xbox One. If you are using the Xbox 360 smartglass app, that is no longer supported and no longer works with the Xbox 360.

    Hi,

    For the companion app to work with your PlayStation Dual Shock controller, you'll need a third party application like

    DS4 Windows    .

    I have no personal experience of this application, but it is something discussed often in other forums. It's totally safe.

    DS4 Windows basically fools Windows 10 into thinking your DS4 is an Xbox 360 controller. Xbox 360 controllers should work fine with Streaming Xbox One to a PC, so the PlayStation Dual shock should hopefully work also. But it won't work on it's own.

    For other controllers to work natively, Windows needs to see them as 'Xinput' compatible. Any controller that is Xinput compatible should be seen as either an Xbox 360 or an Xbox One controller. What they will be detected as depends on the model and the
    age of the third party controller.
