Xbox 360 controller not turning on

I tried replacing the batteries, syncing it, and cleaning the metal piece and still won't work. I am positive the controller is not broken..

Xbox Controller Not Turning On

Please connect the controller to your xbox or PC via USB and hold the big xbox button and the menu button (3 lines button) until it turns on. It should take about 15 seconds to refresh it.

What do you mean clean the metal piece? The exterior of the controller is plastic. If you have taken it apart then we cannot assist with the issue.

I have not took it apart as the metal piece is part of the Battery Pak.

Ah, you mean the spring and connector.

What type of batteries are you using? Are they rechargeable? If so can you try regular store bought batteries?

I am using normal Duracell batteries from the Home Depot or Lowes(I forget), they are AA Alkalines that expire in 2027.

Thanks for the help. I turned off the console and the controller, turned on the Xbox 360 again and turned on the new controller and it allowed me to sign in with my xbox live account/profile.

Have you synced the controller to the Xbox 360 system? Turn on the Xbox 360 system and controller, on top of the controller there should be a small button, hold that button. On the White Xbox 360 or Black Xbox 360 elite, there should be a button too, press
it and your controller should sync up with the Xbox, the controller will confirm this by flashing.

On the Xbox 360 slim, the button is located inside the USB bay.

guide for further assistance.

To turn off your Xbox 360 console and Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, press and hold the
Guide button  on the controller for three seconds. Next, select to turn off just the controller or the controller and the console. If you select the console, the console and all connected controllers are
turned off.
To turn off only the console, press the power button on the console.
