    XBOX 360 Controller for Windows - Wireless Dongle Stopped Working


    I've had a Microsoft controller (wireless xbox 360 version) for my PC for a few years now but I don't use it that often, and for some reason this week I plug the wireless dongle back into the rear port to play a game and the light won't come on! Not
    sure what's changed since the last time I've used it, but does this mean the dongle broke somehow? Windows can't see it anymore and the controller can't detect a connection when I turn it on. If there's nothing I can do for the dongle on my own, is there
    a way to replace/repair it?

    My machine runs Windows 7 64-bit. Everything is up to date, including driver.

    Then you can connect up to 4 360 Wireless controllers........

    Xbox 360 controller and chat pad support in windows 10 and Xbox app for win 10. Driver for keyboard, and mouse pointer from game pad to work in windows 10. Include Wired and Wireless drivers. Documentation, Software on / off Power switch super helpful. Check
    box to turn on / off keyboard and mouse emulation.

    I would like to use Windows 10 and the Xbox App to play games on the big screen TV. I have a home theater PC connected to the tv.

    The Xbox 360 controller works on PC with Xbox App. The keyboard and headphones do not.

    It would be most useful to have full windows support for the Xbox 360 controller keyboard.

    I could browse the internet using 360 keyboard and Cortana with headset microphone.

    I would like to type in Wordpad, and Edge web browser.

    Full mouse and key board support.

    Sell 360 pc controller dongle again, or verify if the new dongle stick works with 360 controller keyboard.

    Support wired and wireless again in Windows 10.

    I believe the Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel should work on the PC if you have the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver. That dongle enables you to use Xbox 360 controllers wirelessly on the PC. I'd imagine it's the same technology in the Racing Wheel. It worked on
    Windows 7, so hopefully it should work with Windows 10.

    its the same wireless controller as the one that comes with any 360 it just comes with the USB wireless dongle that plugs into your PC. all you need to do is hold down the sync button on the dongle and the one your 360 controller and it will work with it.
    I bought just the dongle on ebay and it worked with my old gray/white controller from my old fat 360 and my black one from my slim.

    That wireless gaming receiver only works with 360 controllers, not Xbox One controllers. The Xbox one controller uses a different wireless protocol.

    If you have Bluetooth for your PC you can pair the controller and use wireless this way. If you don't, you can buy any BT 4.0 USB dongle and connect using that. The dongles cost no more that $8.

    Or you can buy the official Xbox One wireless receiver for Xbox One controllers.

    Ahh, that explains it, thank you very much. Unfortunately I don't have Bluetooth inbuilt in my PC, but I can definitely buy a dongle. Does it need to be specifically a BT 4.0 dongle?

    Paul from the Xbox Forums Team here to assist with the issue, it looks like you're trying to get a Xbox 360 controller to work on your pc. How is this controller connecting to your PC? Is it a wired controller or wireless controller? If it's a wireless 360
    controller there is a wireless dongle that would be needed to have the controller work on PC. Please let us know.
