XBOX 360 Controller for windows 10 turning off

Hi, I have looked across the internet but cant seem to find a solution to this problem, and am wondering if others experience something similar.

I use a Microsoft XBOX 360 controller on my Windows 10 pc for gaming. Mostly for Forza.

My query is, it is set to automatically shut off (the controller) as a power saving feature, which is great, but when I press the XBOX button to reconnect it, Forza (and other games) will no longer recognise it as a controller. Now by this I mean, the game(s)
have been left running. If I restart the game(s) it's fine again.

This isn't a huge issue, but it can be quite annoying. For example, finishing a long race on Forza, or getting distracted from my pc while in an NBA2K game, if I come back later, and the controller is off, I cannot finish the race or the game with the controller.
Only the keyboard. And so I have to forfeit my progress to restart the game and get the controller to work.

I use rechargeable batteries in the controller, so if I had to just leave it on for a long time, I dont mind because running the batteries down isn't a problem. But I cant find anywhere, the ability to turn off the power saving function.

So is there a way to disable the auto shut off, or is there something I am supposed to do, when reconnecting the controller, to make the game recognise its connected again.

Hope someone has some suggestions

Currently, the only way for you to turn off the Xbox 360 Wireless controller is when you're playing a game with "Games for Windows Live" enabled. From there, you can turn it off by pressing the Guide button
on your controller.

Hi. my windows 10 and xbox one wireless controller are updated. same issue cant connect wirelessly and windows pairs even when my controller is turned off/not even plugged to laptop.

If you have windows 10 64 bit please choose the windows 7 64 bit version as that's compatible.

Tested, no luck. Still behaving like a mouse ...

Hi,

There is no driver to download or update for Xbox 360 controllers on Windows 10. You just plug them in.

Note: Xbox 360 wireless controllers can not be turned into wired controllers. A 360 play and charge cable can only charge a battery or power the controller if no battery is present, it does not send data.

If you have a wired 360 controller just plug it in, no driver required
If your controller is wireless, you need an Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows.
