Xbox 360 control on pc not working after last windows update

After the last windows update i have not been able to use my xbox 360 controls in forza 7 or horizon 3. The control works fine in my steam games. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Xbox One controller broken by Windows Anniversary Update

My Xbox elite controller just stopped working yesterday on a recently purchased laptop but already had the anniversary update on it so I can't roll back to the previous version of Windows 10.

I've noticed now that in the device and printer section of the Control Panel I've got a Xbox 360 controller for Windows entry which isn't present on another version of Windows 10 install on my desktop PC so this laptop now has two entries the elite controller
and the Xbox 360 controller in Control Panel.If I disabled the Xbox 360 controller entry I get functionality on the elite controller but on a restart Windows the 360 controller reappears in Control Panel and in device manager.

Strange thing that for a week since I've had this new laptop everything was working fine in, now steam doesn't recognise the elite controller and windows hasn't done an update so how's this happened?

Can't stream video from PC after newest update??

Not sure what happened.. Been streaming videos for years from my PC to my Xbox 360 under Video apps.. After this last big update a few weeks ago my Xbox can longer find my PC at all (says PC not listed).. It does however connect to Xbox Live.. Any ideas???

If your controller isn't working on other PC running Windows 11 it tells me something is wrong with your controller.

There aren't any compatibility issues with older Xbox 360 controllers and Windows 11. I've just tried my old Xbox 360 wired controller in my brand new Windows 11 based PC and it works fine. The fact that it isn't working now is likely coincidental.

Not sure what's happened here but the problem is either with the controller hardware itself or the Xbox 360. The 360 controllers can be used on both interchangeably. It won't become a 'Windows 360 controller' after you use on a PC. I have an old 360 that I fire up every now and again, my controller works on both my PC and my 360.

Hi there,

in order to connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to a PC you will require a wireless receiver, the 360 controllers do not support bluetooth.

I am sorry you are having issues connecting your Xbox 360 controllers to your PC. Here are some solutions that will hopefully work.

Note: Make sure your PC is up to date. To manage your options and see available updates, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. Install any updates that may be available.

Solution 1: Uninstall the driver

Since you mentioned it may be a bad driver. If that is the case, uninstall that driver and allow Windows to install it again.

To uninstall the driver, follow these steps:

Go to the search box of your Windows PC and type Device Manager.
In Device Manager locate Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows and right-click > Choose Uninstall from the menu.
After the driver has been uninstalled, restart your computer. When your computer restarts, Windows 10 will automatically install the missing driver.

Things to keep in mind:

If your Xbox 360 wired controller is not detected by your PC, try plugging it into a different USB port, and then test it again
If your controller still does not work, check that Windows 10 is fully updated. Install any updates and then try again.
