    Xbox 360 console ni longer suporting HD DVD Player Add On?


    i tried to use my HD DVD drive Add On last night, and it does not give me an option anywhere on the dashboard or any menus to use it. Xbox 360 console ni longer suporting HD DVD Player Add On? :(

    Has compatibility been removed in updates? Xbox 360 console ni longer suporting HD DVD Player Add On? :(

    I regret to inform you that Xbox 360 S console cannot play HD DVDs. You still need to have an HD DVD player for you to be able to play HD DVDs. However, Microsoft Xbox does not sell Xbox 360 HD DVD player anymore.

    HD DVD Drive - Will it ever work for XBONE S or X?

    The HD DVD player was released for the Xbox 360 during the middle of the "format wars" between HD DVD and Blu-Ray, and Blu-Ray was the ultimate victor.





    If you want to continue using that player, you'll have to hook it up to another working Xbox 360 console.

    There are no plans or announcements to add support for the HD DVD player on the Xbox One. There hasn't been a movie released on HD DVD since 2008, and you can get the same movies on Blu-Ray or streamed online anyway.

    Perhaps mine is vroken then, as it is not showing under video apps.

    I tried puuting the original installation disc in too, and it just says 'Please Connect The HD DVD player'. It powers on though and if I put a disc in, it sounds like it is reading it okay.

    Tried a different cable but it made no difference. Xbox 360 console ni longer suporting HD DVD Player Add On? :(

    Getting HD to Work

    The Xbox 360 does not have an HD-DVD player built in, you can no longer buy the addon new either as it was discontinued a while ago.

    You do not need the HD-DVD player to play your games in HD, just an HD tv and preferably an HDMI lead to hook your console up to the tv.
