Xbox 360 confusion

I'm so confused. My gaming consists of old school nintendo. Looking into an xbox 360 for my 8 year old. I do not want to spend a monthly amount on xbox gold, but are there any kid games we can buy without xbox gold?

So far I am looking into halo, plants vs zombies (requires gold?) Minecraft.

Can someone please tell me kid games to buy that doesn't require xbox gold? Thank you!

This function is not available through the 360. It is a new feature to the Xbox One. Sorry for the confusion.

Clearing up some confusion

Clarification time! The console replacement plan that is the subject of some of today’s headlines is related to a previous update, NOT the system update that has been in public beta and will be deployed shortly.

The new disc format that is part of the beta has been rigorously tested across all Xbox 360 models and there are no known compatibility issues.

Hope that clears a few things up.

Most games can be played without gold.Some games though,like Plants Vs Zombies are mainly multiplayer which does need a gold subscription.

Minecraft,any of the Lego games etc can all be played without gold.The single player,local co-op & split screen multiplayer of Halo doesn't need gold.

The games box should say if gold is needed or it will say in the games description if you buy digitaly.

 

I'd suggest pretty much any game rated "E" for everyone.
