    Xbox 360 chewed up my disk


    I was putting in a disk (LEGO Avengers) to play, and I was at the home screen when I heard a strange sound coming from my console. It sounded like it was grinding something up in there, but it stopped after about 10 seconds. So i continued to start the game
    when an error came up saying the disk was unreadable. Upon further inspection of the disk, I found a large and very deep scratch going along the disk in a circle. The disk was not like that before I put it in, and I always store them in their proper cases.
    This has not happened to any other games after that incident. I am very upset about it because I have spent a lot of time playing that game and I'm worried about the same thing happening to future games. I would be very happy if I could get some help. Thank

    how about replacing my forza 5 that your console chewed up on me without charging me $20 ?

    gun runner chewed up all my saves

    I have had my game freeze a few times that cooruped my auto saves since downloading the Gun Runners but nothing like what you discribe. My hand saves have been untouched. I would try clearing out your cache and re-downloading everything.

    It will be physical game disks for me as Xbox one games are massive and will chew up the download quota.

    Borrow or Gamefly/rental is a great idea, but thats still going to chew up alot of memory/GB on the old 360.

    Disk wont read. Ejects disk. Halo 4 brand new no scratches or rings. Other games work.

    Did the disk play on your friends Xbox? If the disk appears to be damaged than i would suggest returning it for another copy and try your luck with that. If you think the disk should be running fine, then here are a few things to consider:

    Clean out your Xbox with air to remove any dust from the laser that could be stopping it from reading.

    How old is your console? some consoles are notorious from disk read issues. For example, the Xbox Elite was famous for chewing up the disks and making them unreadable. You may have a malfunctioning disk drive. If that is the case, and you are still under
    warranty, then send it in for maintenance.

    Try cleaning the disk with a dry cloth, stroking straight across the disk, never in circular motions! that can damage the disk.

    If you can get the disk to read, try installing to hard drive to avoid future read problems.

    Id have to disagree and say it is a wide spread issue cause I've browsed only like 4 pages and i see multiple people stating the same issue with the disk drive not reading games and how the faulty disk drive chews up the disk. but of course ms would never
    admit its a problem and force loyal customers to pay and have it repaired or force loyal fed up customers to go elsewhere. Cause me I'm having that exact problem, and saying its not a wide spread issue is really a joke, sorry. rant over
