Xbox 360 Can't connect as an extender to WMC on Windows 7

I had connection, now I can't get it back. I have tried removing certificates. Disabling firewalls, antivirus and still no success. I can see the PC from the xbox and connect to LIVE. But I get a configuration error when I enter in the 8 digit code and
hit next...no error code.

media center extender issues please help

I got my
PC Media Center and my Xbox360 media extender somehow out of

sync with each other. In other words the WMC's don't seem to see each other.

It seems the easiest thing for me to do, would be to uninstall the Media

Extender from the PC Media Center. When I follow the steps to uninstall the extender from the Media Center PC there is NO option to Uninstall. Instead I only have the option to Add Extender

Tasks >

Settings >

Extender >

(the only option i get is) CONFIGURE

(there is no UNINSTALL at this point)

The device is seen in WMC as

XBOX
360

not set up

Setup key: ****-136*

When I try to configure with a new setup key the wizard goes through the

following check box's

configuring computer settings - OK

Searching for extenders - OK

Configuring extender - fails

The next screen indicates

Configuration error

An error was encountered while configuring your computer to use with this

Extender.

The
XBox at this point has a Windows Media Center splash screen open and

indicates "contacting" under that

But the connection never resolves.

Xbox One as Media Center Extender

I am incredibly disappointed that the Xbox One isn't a WMC Extender. The thing runs the Windows kernel but it can't run WMC? Lame man, real lame.

Sorry to hear about the WMC issue. We will need you to hop on your Windows 7 PC and follow these steps below, which will get us an error code.

• Try to set up the connection again.
• On your Windows 7 PC, search under the Start Menu for 'Event Viewer'.
• Give it a few moments to fully load, and select the drop down menu for 'Applications and Services Logs'.
  
• There should be an option under this menu for Media Center Extender, select that.
  
• In the center panel, at the top, there will either be 'Warning' or 'Error' under the 'Level' column.
  
• On that line, look for the Event ID and post that here.

Once we have that error code, we can troubleshoot from here and help you get sorted!

Error is ID 523 and 580. For even 523 it shows step 120 failed.

 

Thank you so much for the info! 523 indicates that there some Windows updates that may need to be ran. Go to your Start Menu and search for "Windows Update" and open it. On the left side, click on "Check for updates" and after it finishes that, run all of
the updates it comes up with.

Alright, thanks for trying! Next we will want to delete the contents of the group policies folder. Go to C:\windows\system32\grouppolicy and delete the contents of the folder, be sure to toggle Show Hidden Files to see that. After that, visit our

Windows Media Center set up page and start from Step 2!
