Xbox 360 BC Cloud Save Storage Error

I've had an Xbox One X since November 2019, but before then I had an original Xbox One until about April 2019 which I had to sell. This seems relevant due to the error I'm seeing regarding Xbox 360 BC cloud save storage.

At least one of my games - Dark Souls - shows this error when loading save storage:

> To use cloud storage, sign in to the Xbox you last played on and upload the items to the cloud

So I can't load my save file for this game, possibly some other Xbox 360 titles that I have as well. It is impossible for me to just 'sign in to the Xbox you last played' - as I don't own it any more.

I have tried:

- Deleting the save file for the game - this did not work, and I saw another error message stating I couldn't delete it as another Xbox had a pending upload for it
- Removing all Xbox 360 cache/storage from my console - I tried this option in my Xbox One settings, and then my console restarted. The issue persisted.

I'm not sure what else to try and I'm pretty pissed that I effectively can't play a game that I own. I can't even start a new save file.

If anyone knows how to fix this... please let me know! I am utterly at a loss.

So the issue is that you want to load that old savegame from the other console, or that you want to be able to play but this error is preventing you to even start a new savedata?

If you want to start a new game, try to delete the savedata stored in the cloud following these steps :

From the Xbox Dashboard, go to settings, and then select System.

Select Storage, and then select your primary storage device.

Select System Items, and then select Cloud Storage Console Copy.

Select Delete.

You can't transfer save data directly from the cloud saves. Some BC games allow you to upload your xbox 360 game saves to cloud so you can use them in your xbox one as long as you play online.

I would think this has to do with an Xbox Live connection. The Backwards Compatible game is emulating the Xbox 360 and that includes the Xbox 360 Cloud Save system, which is a different pipeline from the Xbox One, though a similar idea. So when you're
in the game at your friends house, you should be able to press the "Menu" and "View" buttons (start and select) to pull up the 360 dashboard in the game, and then do some cursory functions via that dashboard, and possibly force the sync of the 360 cloud saves?
You might need to look at what storage device the saves are set to while on that console., but I can't remember if that is possible in BC games, as I think it only uses Cloud Saves.

So all that to say I think that it should be saving your 360 BC game saves to the cloud, but if it's not properly connected to Xbox Live, those saves might not be getting uploaded properly. I also remember those save being pretty big, so while you're in
the game, might want to check available space of your Xbox 360 Cloud Storage, again, different from your Xbox One or console storage.

Hi there

If this is 360 cloud storage you have a 2GB save limit and you will have to delete some saves to free up space.

If it's xbox one cloud storage then I'm not to sure to my knowledge there is no save limit on xbox one cloud storage but I could be wrong
