    Xbox 360 backwards compatible password length?


    Hello! I recently changed my gamer tag which requires the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility shell to download the new profile and I discovered that the Xbox 360 shell doesn’t support passwords over a certain length so I’m unable to sign in and play BC titles on my Series X.

    Now, to fix this I could just remove a few characters from my Microsoft account password and be off running but that doesn’t fix the issue for anyone else and would make managing all of the services and devices linked to my Microsoft account annoying. So it’d be nice to see that password text box in the 360 menu support more characters/secure passwords.

    I’ve tried contacting support about it but I don’t want to pointlessly troubleshoot my Xbox over and over when it’s clearly something I can’t fix on my end. Anyone else have this issue or know who to contact to get a fix out?

    Are these Backward compatible games?

    Does it say something along the lines of the password is incorrect?

    Is your password longer then 16 characters? If so and they are backwards compatible games the 360s including the emulator on the One does not like passwords longer then 16 characters so make sure that your password is less then 16 characters.

    Is it only happening on this backwards compatible game? Or all backwards compatible games?

    Is your password longer then 16 characters? The 360 including the emulator on the ONE does not like passwords longer then 16 characters. If your password is longer then 16 characters you will want to change it to something less then 16 characters.

    If it's backwards compatible it would only be available on the Xbox One as a backwards compatible game. Not on the 360
    There are backwards compatible games available for the 360. Black is one of them.
