Xbox 360 backwards compatibility on Xbox one

I have not ever owned an xbox 360 but i own a xbox one. I have a gold membership and I'm trying to download a xbox 360 game that says its free, but when i click buy it says " Your account is unable to make this type of purchase on xbox.com. Please complete
this transaction from your xbox." So what do i do to be able to download xbox 360 games on my xbox one? PLEASE HELP.

My apologies, but it seems I'm having some difficulty understanding exactly what you are asking. But, if the question is can you play Xbox 360 games on your Xbox One? Then the answer is, maybe.... It all depends on if your games are part of the "Backward

Games with Gold Titles Included in Backward Compatibility

When backward compatibility launches in November, all future Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles will be playable on Xbox One. That means Xbox Live Gold members now will get more free games to play each month on Xbox One.

If you're on a child account, you'll have to make the purchase from a 360 console. Otherwise, make sure you have a credit card or Paypal on file.

"I'm getting the message "Your account is unable to make this type of purchase on Xbox.com. Please complete this transaction from your Xbox."
This error means that the Microsoft account that you're trying to use to make the purchase doesn't have the ability to make the purchase.

Child and teen accounts are prevented from making purchases in the Xbox 360 Marketplace. Changing your Microsoft account age or your purchase settings won't resolve this issue.

To resolve this issue, purchase or download the content on your Xbox 360 console."

Also, currency in your account can't be used as a payment method for redeeming xbox 360 games with gold on xbox one - you must have a credit/debit/paypal on your account (add one here:
Sign in to your Microsoft account )

If your account is a child account you can not change your age on xbox through regular means but you can change your age on your microsoft account but that will not affect your xbox account age. If you want to promote your account
to an adult account you will either have to promote it once it reaches 18 years old here
Sign in to your Microsoft account or call xbox support here 1-800-4MY-XBOX (1-800-469-9269) and they can promote the account for you.
