Xbox 360 backwards compatibility (For Xbox One)

I own Losy Odysee. I bought it when it came out years ago. I was super excited to see I could play on my Xbox one.

However when I insert my disk it says it won’t play. So I went to the store to see if I had to click an update or something. In the microsoft store It says the game is backwards compatible. Then I read I have to PAY around 24.99 to play the game I already
paid around 60.00 for. Could someone explain why this is? I am hoping this is a error, but no matter what I do, it still wants to charge me for something I already own.

    :)

Does xbox one s allow you to play xbox 360 games online multiplayer

As an owner of an xbox one s I do play xbox 360 games with backwards compatibility. The simplest way to explain how it does this is this: the xbox one essentially opens up the xbox 360 software to be able to play the games that are backwards compatible.
This means that you can play with people that are playing on xbox 360 using an xbox one or one s. For a list of backwards compatible games click Available games

Just to be sure, did you insert disc 1? If you insert any of the other discs first it will give an error.

You would only have to purchase the game again if you want to own the game digitally. The discs should work.

Hey Cassonia thanks for taking the time to bring this issue to us!

We are sorry this issue has arose but rest assured we are here to help! First things first lets narrow it down to see where the problem lays, the first thing we need to do is the basics. We suggest clearing out the game cache to make sure there isn't any
    corrupt data:

    To clear the cache

    Settings

    System

    Storage

    Clear Local Saved Games

IF THE CONSOLE IS CONNECTED TO THE INTERNETno progress or purchase data will be lost, what we accomplish by doing these steps would be to resync the profile to the cloud getting rid of any
corruption as a byproduct. If after the console comes back on and the problem persists then the next step would be to remove and re-add the account to the console.
Give these steps a shot and let us know if we can further assist in this or any
    other issues or inquiries!!

Yes it was Disk 1, I stopped and checked to be certain. That was my thought as well about that being a digital purchase price but I wanted to be certain. It still isn’t playing however. Thank you for your reply I appreciate it.

if i clear the cache will it remove the progress of my other games or those of the other players on my Xbox One? Sorry to sound ignorant but there is 4 others who have games in progress on my machine.

The cache is unrelated to game saves and would not effect progress on any games. Before trying that though, I would also suggest doing a power cycle first. That usually will clear up a lot of issues.

    1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.
Important Be sure to wait 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

Thank you I will try that. If it doesn’t work I will try cleaning the cache.

    Just to cover all bases:

In order to be able to play a disc based Xbox 360 game, the console has to be able to detect the security sector of the disc to know which game it is. Then the console has to download the game from the Xbox Marketplace.

The disc in your drive is just a "proof of purchase", while the complete game is played off the console's hard drive after the download.

So make sure that the console is able to detect the disc properly by checking that the console shows the game tile with a disc icon under the main game tile on the Home screen.

If the game doesn't show up with a disc icon, it's possible that the console doesn't detect the disc correctly.

Remove the disc from the disc drive, and hold the Xbox button on the console for about 10 seconds. After the console has shut down, press the power button again to turn the console back on, and make sure the console shows a green boot screen during startup.

Since this "cold boot" takes a while, take the disc to your kitchen, and apply a small drop of mild dishwasher soap to the silver side of the disc.

Using wet fingers, "massage" the soap around the silver side of the disc, until the whole silver surface is covered in foam.

Rinse the disc under running water, then shake the disc to get the water off.

Wipe the remaining drops with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Return to the console that should have finished booting now, and insert the disc again.

If the disc still isn't detected, check if other discs are detected by your console. If other discs work, check if your Lost Odyssey disc works in a different console. If the disc can't be detected in a different console, your disc is defective.

You could try to give your disc to a video rental store (if they still exist) or an electronics store that buys used games, and ask them if they could polish the disc for you, and hope it'll work.

    BLACK for Xbox 360 error

If it's backwards compatible it would only be available on the Xbox One as a backwards compatible game. Not on the 360
There are backwards compatible games available for the 360. Black is one of them.
