Xbox 360 and Xbox One Gamer Tag

If you have a 360 and a One, do you have to keep downloading your gamer tag between them each time you use the other console from the last one used?

i.e you play the 360, then wish to play on the one.

I know with the 360 if you downloaded your GT onto another 360 it would lock out the GT on the other console, or does that only apply to the same gen consoles?

I only ask as I have a 360 and wish to purchase a One and have games on the 360 i wish to complete.

can someone just confirm/clear up for me - can i roll over my gamer tag from xbox 360 onto the xbone and can i carry over my unused gold membership from my xbox 360 onto the xbone?

i assume that if i roll over my gold account onto the xbone then i can no longer go online on the 360?

No you dont have to recover it every time between each console. Or atleast i dont.

 

If you have your profile stored on your Xbox 360 console, you can keep it there.

When you get an Xbox 1, you will need to download it but only once, and choose to keep that profile on your console once downloaded.

You can also be signed in using your profile, to both your Xbox 1 console and Xbox 360 console simultaneously.

Your profile is retrievable on Xbox Live. It isn't just restricted to your PC, Xbox 360 or Xbox 1 console.

I know you can't be logged in to the 360 and Games for Windows Live at the same time, is that different with GFWL and the One?

 

on the 360.. it wa s a long process to recover your gamertag.. not on the X1.. it is like signing into a webpage.. as easy as email > password > done

 

My gamertag sits on my X1 while it's on a flash drive for 360 use; never have to recover it and wish my G.T. could be stored on flash for the X1.

Nothing against the OP, but sometimes I wonder about some of the silly questions that people ask around here that shows how much they truly don't know regarding the consoles and Xbox Live (granted, I'm probably an expert in comparison). It feels like, to
me anyways, that we're constantly having to tell numerous people to check and make sure they've got it plugged in when they ask why they can't get it to work... *sigh*

You know something's wrong when numerous support threads are being sent here...

 

That is why I asked the question. If I knew the answer I wouldn't have bothered asking. Your post is absolutely pointless and isn't helpful at all to what I asked.

It hasn't upset it me, it just bugs me when people post in a thread which doesn't contribute to the subject at hand.
