    xbox 360 4gb E79 error code


    My XBOX errored out with code E79. It is out of warranty and is the 4GB model. I have not added the optional hard drive. Can I just buy and add a xbox hard drive to fix the issue, or will the internal 4GB memory still need to be fixed first?

    I dont play my xbox much and i dont have a hard drive, i turned on my xbox and played for about 30 mins, then the screen froze so i turned it off. i turned it back on and the xbox had a red light on the front and on the screen it had the error report e79.
    anybody no what i should do?

    This is why you don't JTAG your Xbox. If you didn't then ship it to Microsoft for service.

    You could certainly purchase a hard drive for the console and see if it will work after plugging it in however that would only be a band aid fix as the console would still need to be repaired or replaced.
