Xbox 1X Dvd playback and upscaling?

Just bought it and going through settings I managed to finally get my 4K uhd disk to play with this machine. Great.

But! Playing Dvd's... Not good at all. The tv is showing 576p resolution and is not upscaling like any other of my machines.

All outputs are set and showing green on uhd and hdr settings but is not upscaling to at least 1080p. What's going on peeps. This is a £400 machine!!

Hi there,

The Xbox should be upscaling video resolution to what is capable by the DVD and the TV. Whenever you play normal HD DVD's and the resolution is displayed by your TV in 576p, what is the resolution displaying in your Xbox video settings? Take a look if the
resolution setting is still at 4K or 1080p whichever you have it set to when you play your DVDs.

Have you already tried re-installing the Blu-ray player app? If you haven't, I suggest doing so and let us know if the problem persists.

My tv has an info as to what resolution is showing. A 4k uhd shows correct as does x box 1 games.

when playing a standard Dvd the info shown is 576p standard. Not upscaled at all. Aweful picture.

Thanks for the reply. Will do. I was really glad that the xbox 1 read the 4k disk as my panasonic is a 4k upscaler and wouldn’t read it. It runs the uhd disk fine and all gaming in 4k hdr. Sweet, but was dissa-ointed at the dvd playing as my panasonic scales
them to 4k and they look better that alot of blurays.

Thanks for reaching out. In reference to your question, standard DVDs are not equipped with the 4K features.

The movies capable to produce 4K features are known as Blu-Ray discs.
