Xbox 1TB Seagate Expansion Card Starting to Crack

HI,

Is anyone else having issues witht the black plastic part of the expansion card? I have 3 x Seagate Expansion cards and 2 of them show multiple cracks in the plastic. 1 is from launch and the other 1 cracking is probably 4 months old.

The cards work fine but annoyed the casing is cracked given the cost of these things.

What's the chip shortage got to do with the OP having problems with 2 of their expansion cards cracking.

If the cards and cases are stored properly and being taken care of when they're not being used or when being used on the console that would indicate a manufacturing problem.

Regardless of what is being manufactured, there will always be bad batches sent out for sale.

Edit: I just googled about the expansion card and they can get hot when in use and that's what could be causing the cracking. If it is the heat that's causing the cracking that could possibly mean a manufacturing problem.

You could afford 3 cards ?

I would've waited for higher capacity cards that may or may not come out

Right now they are focused on the chip shortage which affects memory too

You should take them back to where you bought them and ask for replacements.

Warranty laws vary from country to country and you should be able to argue your case that you may have been sold defective items.

Are they kept somewhere where they are exposed to direct sunlight? As that can have a detrimental effect on certain types of plastic.
