    Xbox 1s fans run full regularly, console not hot


    My Battlefield 1 Xbox One S 1TB bundle console seems to kick it's fans into warp speed - sometimes even when idle in the menu. I thought at first it was because I was downloading a game while playing another, putting a strain on the CPU. However, after all
    my downloads were complete, just playing BF1 the fans would randomly, and often, kick on immediately at what sounds like 100%. It's loud enough to drown out the game sound. The worrying part is that the console isn't even remotely warm to the touch. I would
    understand if it was having some overheating issues, but the console sits in open air atop my entertainment stand with nothing on top of it in the horizontal orientation. I can't say I've ever even heard the fans at any other speed than full. It sounds like
    a jet taking off in my living room.

    Kinect running hot

    The kinect naturally runs hot but if it gets hot to the point that it is burning hot then you may have a faulty fan.

    Your Xbox is probably running hot, therefore the fan has sped up to try and keep the Xbox cool.

    yea, it's not the power brick, I take the whole console out of my media center and it's pretty obvious the fan is broken. It's also running really really hot.

    It is normal for the exhaust on the top to be warm. I've measured the exhaust on my Trinity consoles at around 125-135F, vs 95F for a Jasper. The rest of the console shouldn't get all
    that hot as long as the fan's running and you're not running games from the DVD drive.



    You can buy a fan, but it's not recommended.

    It's pretty normal I think.

    My 360 S gets pretty hot when playing, but I can play for 10+ hours without the console overheating. In the 2 or so years I've owned it, I've actually NEVER had it overheat on me. Definitely impressed with that.

    I honestly wouldn't worry too much. If your Xbox is properly set up and has sufficient ventilation, your Xbox should be fine. Now if your console started to regularly overheat, then that would definitely be an issue. But if the console runs fine then it's
    just the console giving off heat and completely normal, all eletronics do.

    If you're paranoid though, you can do what I did with my old PS3 and get a portable fan and position it so it blows cool air onto the console (DO NOT position the fan to blow air into the console vents/fans, this can do damage to the fans and it can also
    blow dust inside of the console which you obviously don't want.)
