    Xbox 1s Display and Input lag fix.


    Hello. I am experiencing major display and input lag on my Xbox 1S console. Players will stand still, and then they will randomly glitch to another area in the game. Also, when I play games like call of duty, my hits wont register. I play wireless, (don't
    have the option for wired), and I have the best internet Xfinity provides. If someone could help, that'd be great.

    Well i do apologize for my flamboyancy with the Xbox 360's display settings and input lag, but i've been experimenting with my display again and i decided to try switching the HDMI 1 input to PC Mode (which shuts off all enhancements except for color,sharpness,brightness,contrast,
    and backlight) and lo and behold, it did improve my Xbox 360's input lag where i can go back to 1080p.

    However, even though its called "PC Mode", it doesn't do crap when i have my computer hooked up using HDMI to it. so any lag would be from my computer and not the display.

    Still, again I apologize as there is many possible combinations of setups that have different kinds of lag so using 720p isn't always the best (TV having to upscale rather than the Xbox will introduce lag). But before, if i wouldn't have guessed PC Mode
    improving input lag, then i would have stuck with 720p since the receiver upscales it already.

    A TV's input lag often has a lot more to do with how it is set up than it does with the panel/processor itself. If you buy a quality display and set it up correctly you shouldn't encounter input lag that is hindering. That said, you won't find a modern display
    with <10ms input lag. You might be able to find some in the 15-30ms range, which is perfectly unnoticeable.

    Input lag is the difference in time between when the signal is accepted by the display and when it is shown on the screen. Both HDTVs and monitors have some, but monitors tend it have less because of default settings on TVs increasing input lag. You can
    set up a HDTV to have an unnoticeable amount of input lag.

    HDMI Passthrough Latency

    Hi BigWhiskey91,

    I can confirm that the HDMI input has approx 170 milli-seconds of latency. On top of a typical display lag, you're looking at over 200ms of overall latency.

    I have my xbox 360 going through it now and it's un-playable.

    FYI ... Method of measurement : I modified an xbox 360 controller with a light sensor and created an xna app that measures display lag by flashing the display and waiting for a response from the modified controller.

    Xbox one is great ... but stick with passive content on the hdmi input.
