    Hi,

    My Xbox one recently stopped detecting my external hard drive (SeaGate 2TB) after working fine for almost a year. I've tried every port and done several hard re-sets. Any advice? Please help.

    Make sure that the isb is a 3.0 usb . Otherwise it wont work. Heard restart and the plug in when it iff full booted up. It should ask you to format for use on the xbox

    I havnt tried to format it on a separate computer yet because it's my wife's work computer and I wanted to make sure nothing needed to be downloaded on the computer to do the format

    Hi slic,

    Thanks for your response. If the computer is a Windows 10 device, no software would be needed to format the drive. Here's how to do so:

    1. Open File Explorer on your Windows 10 PC
    2. Select This PC
    3. Find the External Drive you wish to format
    4. Right Click the drive and Select Format
    5. Click the File system drop-down
    6. Select NTFS
    7. Click Start to being formatting the drive

    Hi, are you sure this hard drive has USB 3.0? If it does not have USB 3.0 it is a problem and you will not use this hard drive for games. If you do not want Xbox to detect it after connecting, have you tried all the USB ports? You tried to connect this
    hard drive to your computer if it works. If everything works, it is strange that the hard drive would not work with Xbox.
