Xbox 1 stock headset issue with chat

My brand new, out of the box, headset isn't working properly. I have no kinect. When I plug my headset in, I can hear all the system sounds and game sounds. I cannot hear other gamers or chat parties. I've updated, unplugged, reset, and everything else I
can think of. Help. I'm tempted to go buy a replacement and just return it with the broken one.

Headset microphone not working

I was using the stock xone chat headset having this issue

I am, furious with Microsoft. I went through 5 chat support sessions just trying to buy 1 Xbox one headset adapter, because they’re out of stock. And what do their support team tell me to do. Buy a third party adapter that will break in a month.

 

It was really hit or miss with that thing for me too. It was such a pain! Sometimes snapping to the main menu and back to the game would solve the problem (No kinect here either), sometimes unplugging the mic and plugging it back in would work, sometimes
only doing a party chat would work...it was always trying dozens of different things to get it to work. Once I finally figured out that usually one of those methods would eventually get it to work, it was bearable until I finally upgraded to new set of TB's
for the One since my old TB's for the 360 were one of the few models that aren't compatible with the One.

 

Dont buy a new one ive already did that its a glitch they need to address

 

I should also say that even with the new, specifically made for the One-Turtle Beaches that I now have, I still have issues. Definitely a problem they need to address.
