Xbox 1 start up and shutdown issue

    Xbox 1 start up and shutdown issue


    My xbox is set to instant on but every time i turn it off and try to turn it back on again I need to reboot it as it just freezes either on the home screen or on a black screen with the xbox symbol in the center also more recently it just doesnt turn off
    anymore unless i do a reboot on the console or just turn off the plugs. Is there anyway I can get it to stop doing these things

    Hey EpicSh3llshock,

    Can you try power cycling your console?

    EDIT: I posted the wrong set of instructions there, here are the correct:

    1. On the console, press and hold the Xbox button until the light behind it turns off (about 5 seconds), which means the console is off.
    2. After the console has shut down, unplug the power cord and wait 30 seconds.
    3. Plug the console back in and turn it on using the Xbox button. Power cycling will reset the network card and clear the cache.

    My xbox one worked perfectly last night, but today it turns on and all that comes up is a spinning circle. Is there a fix for this by chance?

    Hi! Sorry to hear about your issue. We can try a system cycle. To do this have your xbox one on. Now hold down the power button for 10 seconds until it shuts off completely. Now you want to unplug every cord from the back of the console and wait 2 mins.
    After the 2 mins plug everything back making sure everything is plugged in securely. Now let it reboot. I hope this helps!

    Sorry you're going through this. Kindly turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds and then plug the console power cable back in. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on then check again.

    The only thing that could make the xbox keep flashing with the constant fan on means the background option is on.

    Even if you havent got anything downloading it still holds up the shutdown. Follow these steps to check & disable background downloads option.

    1. On dashboard go to system settings.

    2. Then go to start up & shutdown options

    3. Go to background downloads and select disable.

    Harddrive broken?

    unplug the hdd, fully shutdown console from the power menu in settings, start it back up, then do another full shutdown, then plug hdd in before starting up again, power on the hdd and then start console, if this does not work then the hdd may have gone
    completely.
