Xbox 1 S controller to android

Hey, support people.

I've been trying to connect my Xbox One Bluetooth controller to my Android 7.0 phone. I start my controller and hold the pair button down until the X begins to flash rapidly. I let go of the button and turn on my Android's Bluetooth. "Xbox Wireless Controller"
comes up with a D-Pad icon next to it. Great! I tap it and it begins to pair. 30 or so seconds later, I get an error: Couldn't pair with Xbox Wireless Controller because of an incorrect PIN or passkey.". I was told to make the passkey 0000 but I cant figure
out where to put it. Is there a series of buttons to press on the controller as a pin? How can I get it to connect?
